A question about pasture bonus.
-
Do you still get a bonus for leaving your mare in the pasture if you don't use the pasture itself to breed them?
-
Nope, theminute you take the out of a pasture they lose the bonus.
-
@Shad0cat, the pasture bonus would not work with using a straw and live cover - except if the stallion was in pasture with them and the pasture was bred.
-
Oh ok then I've been waiting to breed my girls for nothing. Well then I guess I should get started.
-
Find a nice stud to put with your ladies. The bonus helps in many ways with the mares. I use it. If you wait till the 14 the pasture breeds automatically. Let your girls have 30 days or more in the pasture for the full amount of the bonus.

Oh I will soon but I am just starting out now. I have very few dedicates show horses and I need my mares to help build my show bonus. At the moment I'm breeding to outside stallions that meet my color and quality requirements. I did gen a couple stallions that I intend to breed to my own girls and I bought a couple gen 2 stallions to breed to my mare's daughters but they won't be ready for breeding until month after next. I also want to get a small second pasture so that I can keep my mares in the main one to gather the bonus then rotate them individually into the second pasture to breed to different stallions. Somebody said they don't lose their bonus if you move them from one pasture to another just if you move them to the barn. By only taking some of my mares off the show circuit at a time I can still breed quality horses and continue to build daily income.
