Leveled off already?
-
I have a top Notch producer mare. Fresh create as I'm new. One training session and she has leveled off. What does that mean?
-
Means she want be a very productive show horse. I'd keep her as a pasture mare (so she always has a high bonus for breeding)----

PT is mostly an indicator of performance (PT = Performance Testing). Top Notch Producer is going to be the best at producing babies.
-
Leveled Off just means she will only be increasing her showing level by very small increments from now on. Since she leveled off so early, she must have a very low PT score. The lower the PT, the earlier they level off, which means they generally wont make as much money for you since they wont be competing at the higher levels for better payouts. Like Confluence said, she is a Top Notch Producer so she will have a high breeding ability.
-
So i will still get quality foals out of her? And thnk you for the info.
-
Yes, you should get some pretty good foals from her. Her breeding ability is 100%, the best foundations can have, unless they are exceptional producers. Breeding her to Perfect Foundations or Top Notch producing stallions should help, and keeping her in a pasture will definitely help maximize her ability to produce foals from the top of her breeding range.De gustibus non disputandum. Also, if I hae Great Show Hores that made it through mare advice, could I assume she would also be a quality brood?
-
A horse produced from the Great Show Horse herd helper is the opposite of the TNP. Meaning that they will have the highest showing ability of a foundation and a PT score of 9.9. If they then pass through SAT (Showing Aptitude Test) which compares a horses showing ability to their breeding ability you can assume their breeding ability is close to or above their showing. So in this case, if they pass SAT then yes they should be a good broodmare.
As for your stud, he is a Exceptionally Perfect foundation. Meaning he will have a higher breeding and showing ability than both of your TNP and GSH. You can still breed them together, however you may find it difficult to get a stallion that passes gelding advice from that combination. -
Nice draft stallion. He is exceptionally perfect, so his breeding ability is 105%, I believe. More like a 2nd generation ability. However, putting your mares in pasture and breeding him to them there, will help lower the possibility of mostly neutered offspring.
Great Show Horse mares that make it through Mare Advice won't be complete breeding duds, but they may not be quite the equal of a Perfect Foundation. Bred to your stallion, they may produce more foals that get neutered, or have low PT's even with a full 30 day pasture bonus. The only way to tell about their breeding ability is to breed them and see what you get. You can make a decision after they are papered, or if they seem to be producing foals with quite low PT's you can neuter them and confine them to your show string. They should be doing well there. Remember that horses in pasture can't be shown. This might make a difference to your decision on how to use them.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
