So you may have noticed that the daily herd helpers are ranked 1-5. This refers specifically to the rareness of the color, pattern or combination that the horses from the herd helper will be. Some colors or patterns are common, others are pretty rarely occurring in the game. Unless your HH is a Perfect Foundation, Great Show horse, Top Notch Producer or Super Consistent, any quality of foundation horse may be created from the HH, so some will be excellent and others will be duds and there will be everything in between.

Every once in a while in the Daily Herd Helpers (super rare but it happens), or else as a special gift from Ammit (the game Goddess/creator) for a special event or just because, we will get a Rank Special Herd Helper. Rank Specials are even more cool combinations of colors and patterns and every horse will be at least a perfect foundation, sometimes even better. We just had a huge holiday event that included Rank Specials every day for a couple of weeks, so there are currently a lot of Rank Specials floating around for sale in the game. This is not usually the case.

Rank Specials usually command very high prices during a create event and for a couple of days after. As we move away from the release of a rank Special, their sales value tends to fall back towards that of any normal create, especially if they don't have any really rare genes.
