10.5 PT for 2g?
-
Hey guys, was looking through my two year olds and found this mare who has a PT of 10.5! This wouldn't be surprising if one of her parents was an ExPer but she comes from a regular perfect foundation and a top notch producer. The mare did have a Pasture boost so maybe that's what pushed her over the 10.4, which is what I always imagined was the threshold for regular 2nd gens.
So I guess I'm just asking the more experienced players if they've gotten anything like this before, or is this some kind of fluke? -
You can get a 2g with a PT like that. Her dams boost from the pasture helped alot.

The pasture boost helps a lot. I've got quite a few perf foundation mares in my pasture. They generally average somewhere between 10.2 and 10.5. I did have an 11 this year but she was out of two exceptional producers.

As I understand it, the Pasture Bonus isn't a boost so much as raising the lower limit of what the mare would produce normally. Leaving mares in a pasture doesn't make a them better breeders, it just means they have a better chance of breeding from the top range of their normal breeding ability. :)

I have quite a few 10.4 2g's from non-pasture breedings so it is possible, just pretty hard to get.
The highest I could find from a pasture breeding with a ex-per stallion to a normal mare is 10.7 which is kind of impressive considering there was only 10 days in pasture bonus on the mare. So it looks like you've got yourself two pretty good horses there :)#4519 -
Thanks everyone! Looks like I have a new goal to try and see how many I can breed from now on. :D Sadly when I bred the same pair this year, I only got a 9.9 foal. But that's also the fun part, you never know for certain what you're going to get!
