If you asking how tobiano is noted in the gene test, it is one of the options (called alleles in genetics terminology) for the Kit gene. Here is the gene test results for one of my tobianos, with the tobi gene in bold.

Roan (Kitr), sabino (Kitsb1, Kitsb2 and Kitsb3) and white (Kitw, Kitw2, Kitw3, and Kitw4) are also alleles of Kit. On the horses' pages the "to" "r" "sb1" etc are superscripts, but the forum doesn't copy that formating.
If you are asking where the tobiano came from in the first place there are several possibilities. First, if they are foundations they could have been created using a tobiano Herd Helper. Also a small percentage of creates will get a pattern gene spontaneously, so they could have been created with a non-tobiano Herd helper and gotten it as a random bonus. It is also possible to GMT it onto a foundation, but that takes real money (2 tokens for $5 each). If your horses are lined, they would have had to inherit the tobiano from one of their parents.I was jllewis on the old forum.
