Stallion paper - Grade C.... Help
  • Is there anyway to raise this at all or is this like a permanent solid thing?

I have a foundation stallion whose color and everything I fell in love with but he came out as a 'C'....
I normally get rid of any C ratings but I really like him.

What 'exactly' does this mean and can this be raised and re-tested ever? Is it best to get rid of him? Does this mean I should really just show him and not breed?

This whole papering and grading is confusing to me :(
  • To raise his paper level you'll need to give him a breeding boost. I think they can have 5 in total.

C means he's not a fail, so good enough to breed from. However there are gradients in the paper levels and you'll need to comparison test to see where he is, I believe. If you have a known low B papered and he tests AGA, then you'll know that he is a high C.

  • If he is a foundation stud all will paper C except for the exceptionally perfect rank specials and your exceptional producer rank specials. Those will paper B.
I like my foundation C papered
    2G studs B papered.
3g studs B papered but try for an A papered one.
    4g studs A papered.
    5g studs A papered
6g studs A papered but strive for Star papered.
7g studs and beyond Star papered.

  • C is not bad at all for a foundation in fact that is what you will get for any foundation that is not rank special.

  • For me, a regular create papering C is just fine. Exceptionally Perfect paper B. After that, I follow:

    From a C foundation:
    2g - B
    3g - A
4g - A and superior to sire, potentially Star
    5g and up - Star.

I haven't played with the B foundations a whole lot yet, but my 2gs sired by B foundations must be A papered. Everything else gets snipped.
  • Remember, too, it's not a race. I've been over here for a year, come the end of March, and I am just getting my 3rd gens going the directions I want them to go. You aren't likely to get a B papered superior to sire colt on your first outing (with basic foundations). That random score combination that makes a foal has an awful lot of wiggle room for 'equal too', or 'not as good as parents' scores, and only some 'better than' wiggle room!

Sure, you can start off buying all the best stallions and all the best mares, but to me that seems to cut out the most interesting part: figuring it out for yourself! :D
