So I have been testing all of my horses and I noticed that last season I had bread a mare with .4 pt and somehow I ended up with a foal that has 10 pt. I guess what I'm asking is does all the pt come from only one parent and if yes how would I predict what parent it will come from.
Here is the mare

Here is the stallion she was breed to

PT is just showing ability/when they will level off.
I've also bred similar: a mare with 0.2PT to a 10.4 stallion and the foal got 10.2ID# 2353Thanked by 1Foxwood -
In foundation horses, especially there is NO connection between showing ability (PT score) and breeding ability. In lined horses, the connection between the two is that higher breeding ability in the parents will result in a higher average PT score in the foals.

Is consistency genetic?
-
@LonepineHill sorta. Inconsistent horses are more likely to give birth to inconsistent foals, but both types can give birth to both types no matter whatProducer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
