Paper Levels
  • The chart was not accurate, so I took it down.

  • It's a nice chart, but the thing is, there is overlap on the papering, so while the pyramid looks good, it should actually have wavy lines between each color, to account for the overlapping, as there are different levels in each paper level. Low C, Med C, High C, etc.., and a Low B can be like a High C, in some of the fractional difference the papering has. Just to give people the correct idea on the papering, there may be like 5 levels of C (just an example, I'm not actually sure), and each level has it's variants, it's not solid in its structure as the pyramid is.

(Unless Ammit has changed it again recently.)

  • @KerredansCorral How can you tell if they are high medium or low? Is it by PT or AFPT

  • Thanks Kerredan, good idea! I put it up here for just that kind of evaluation!

  • Paradise Park, you would want to look at average foal PT. Say you have two blue paper mares. One throws foals in the 11-11.3 range one throws foals in the 11.7-12 range. The second mare is a higher level Blue than the first mare.

Stallions are easy because you can comparison test them. So you can see which B stallions are better or worse than your other B stallions.

To date with comparison testing I have only been able to discern three levels within B and A papering. I don't have enough *star stallions yet to say for sure how many levels there are there. So I have ranked my studs as high Bs, medium Bs and Low Bs etc. I haven't compared any of my Cs, but I would suspect three levels there also.

  • I don't think a pyramid is a good representation, to be honest. It isn't a pyramid, it's a linear progression.

There has never been overlap in stallion papers. Mare papers nop longer have any overlap. I also think this makes it look like breeding even increases foal quality wich is totally not true. While I appreciate the spirit, I think this will only confuse people because it is simply not how breeding works. :(
  • And that is what I needed to know! Thanks, Ammit!
