n00b questions
  • Couple noob questions-
How long is a "week" or a "month"? Are we talking real time?
How much money do you get for "show points"?
Why would a horse with a high Performance Test Grade be gelded when a lower one isn't? Say they are both consistent. I'm missing something.
Sorry I looked in the FAQ and on the forum and I can't find the answers. TIA!
  • Hi Heritage, and welcome!

I suppose you could break down the game year (which is one month/28 days) into quarters if you wanted to figure out the game 'week'. Is that what you mean?

  • The Performance Test looks at showing ability, not breeding ability. The horse with the higher PT score was gelded because his breeding ability was significantly lower than that of one or both of his parents.

  • To figure out how much money you get per horses points, take the horses points, times by .75 and then divide the full number by 7. This will give you how much money a horse earns for you per day. I've tested it on horses I bought from auction, as well as my overall points and it all seems to add up fine.

  • Thank you for all the help! I still don't understand how game time works though. ??
  • You have breeding stock to make really cool colored, high quality foals. You have showing stock to fund those ventures!

You can figure out how well a horse will show using the PT (Performance Test). The number (anywhere from -1 to 14 (at this point, we don't know how high it can go) will tell you how many 'training points' your horse will earn with its weekly training session. The more points the better placing in shows, and the higher levels it can reach. One day that horse will reach its peak level of training (leveled off), and the number of 'training points' per session will level off at a lower number, but it will still gain, and still earn 'show points'. PT ONLY shows a horses SHOW TRAINING ability. It has nothing to do with breeding.

Start with first generation horses (made from scratch by the computer aka Foundation horses) and breed for...whatever you want! We talk a lot about 'quality' breeding animals, but we don't really know how Ammit (the game owner) has programed the game to calculate quality. We know it has to do with breeding ability. Breeding ability is know through papering your horses. You test the horse and the results will tell you what level of breeding quality it is, which helps you make the decisions which horses to breed together. You can also calculate the average training ability of a horses offspring to see if the babies are any better than the parents.

Then you have the colors! You will learn, whether you want to or not, about the different genes that cause a horses coat color to do what it does. The genetics are pretty darned realistic, and you can see how the genes work together. The challenge is to get a cool coat color along with a high quality animal. Getting the two things combined is not easy!

Essentially, it is not a game that you 'win'. It's a process that you enjoy!
