Breeding?

Ok, I have a question :)
I know pasture breeding gives you a better breeding bonus if the mares are in there longer but what about breeding in the barns or to outside stallions vs using straws. Do you have a better chance of better quality with straws or is it the same as 'live cover'
I hope that made sense -
No, the way the horse is bred has nothing to do with it's abilities.
-
What is the pasture bonus for then if it's not giving you a better chance at a better foal?
-
I think Confluence was referring to whether you bred by straws or live cover. The only time a horse gets a breeding bonus is in the pasture, so they must be bred in the pasture to receive that bonus. If you breed a mare by a straw or live cover to an outside stallion they must be removed from the pasture and thus loose the pasture bonus :)Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms

I guess you could say the method used doesn't matter. Or the style? Or the position? But, yeah, what Gallifreyan said. The way the sperm is presented to the egg does not effect the foals abilities, is what I meant!
-
Ok, I just wondered if there was a benefit to using the more expensive AI route of breeding vs the more affordable live cover version.
-
Thanks :)

The only benefit is the ability to go over the nromal 50 breedings per year for studs and 1 breeding per year for mares. That and the ability to sell a "delayed breeding" to someone else while keeping control of the horse.
I haven't used any of the fancy breeding methods in quite some time, other than playing around with some straws from deceased studs.
