  • How do you organise your barns? At the moment my primary is for all my intact horses, minus my poor doers who are in the pasture, and my 2nd barn is for the snipped or horses I'm selling.

My cousin has changed hers to generations, first gen is pasture, second in her primary and third in her 2nd barn, I think, I'm going to text her to ask her.

I only ask this as i'll soon be able to start breeding my 2G horses and want to be as organised as possible but don't really know where to start.
I'm trying and having fun doing it.
  • I have six barns total right now!

My primary barn(101) is reserved for my show string, I have a 120 stall barn for 2G mares and a 15 stall for some 1G mares that won't fit in my pasture.

I then have a 15 stall barn just for my 1G and 2G stallions as it helps me keep the numbers down. I have a 30 stall barn for 3G as I'm only just starting to get there.

And lastly I have a 30 stall storage barn that is for sorting foals and mostly houses horses that are being sent to auction so I can just auction the entire barn rather than 30 individual horses.

I'm a bit of a neat freak so this way everything is where it's meant to be :D Hope this helped.
  • Kinda lol. I only have 2 barns at the moment, I'm trying to merge 2 accounts so i should have 4 but i'm having issues. My barns are only 20 and 15, I don't like how i have them set out as they have everything entire crammed into one barn and my tiny 10 horse pasture.

I think sorting them into generations might be a better solution than entire and snipped.

  • That is how I have my barns but don't forget I paid to upgrade so I have a bigger barn and pasture
  • I separate everyone into lines. I have an Inferno line. Inferno was the name of the stallion I used to start the line. I have a pastured that is named Inferno and then I have two barns. A "Inferno" barn where all the stallions who want the job of head boy are kept and then a "Inferno mares" barn where all the girls are kept until they are of age. I do the same for every line. I then have show barns and they are literally named show barn 1, show barn 2 and so on.
  • I only joined in Feb so i'm a fairly new player and only working with the 1 stallion. I will definitely remember that idea for when i have more hb to buy IVs and have more lines

  • @Kalilm - if you have a premium upgrade, don't keep your show horses in the primary barn. It does not show automatically. Have you set the Autoshow?

  • I have 32 barns right now and 10(?) pastures. I have my color lines sorted into barns (GP, W10, S+), but then I have a sale barn, an auction barn (upgrade lets you enter entire barns in the auction), 1YO, 2YO, 3YO mares barn, at 4 they are sorted by color, or into pastures, etc. I have a barn for foundation mares that I don't have pastures for and one for lined mares with the same problem. Then I have my surrogate mares who are showing when they're not pregnant, and 9 120 stall barns of just show horses.

ETA - miscount! I have FOURTY barns!

  • @Confluence I have set the autoshow but I don't really use it. Only takes two clicks to have them finished for the week and its the best space I have for them, thanks for the advice though!
    Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms
  • That's a lot of horses @Confluence

  • I have to admit that I have around 2000 horses in this game most of the time, and while I do sort most of my pastures by color or pattern I'm breeding for and by generation, I try to keep a mixture of ages, genders, and PT scores in each of my barns. The only exceptions are the barns I keep my adoptable horses in, the one the potential adoption horses are in, and a barn to drop horses headed for the auction in.

When I want to sort horses for breeding purposes, I sort them using a search tab for stallions of a certain description and a second search tab for mares to match.
De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

  • I do the search tab thing for breeding, too, SandyCreek. I'd be dead in the water without the search!

@JamesBay - I keep trying to save IVs for a 1000 stall barn, but Ammit keeps making these cool tack packs!

  • I have 10 barns and gave up sorting a long time ago. I really should sort them... maybe I'll do that sometime this week

I used to have my primary for breeders, a barn for show horses, a barn for intact young stock, an older breeding horse barn and a spare

  • So far I've got 4IVs as I spent 10 trying to make my other account bigger so that I can merge it with this one. I will eventually get enough or I'll finally have a bit of spare cash and I'll use real money to do it.

  • I have show barns, that I don't bother sorting much, and holding barns. One for stallions and one for young mares. Too young to go in the pastures. As soon as a mare hit's three she get placed in the generationally appropriate pasture to mature for the last month. I only do pasture breeding.

I keep my primary barn empty to use for sorting. I will move a pasture's worth of foals in there, run them through the required testing and then sort them into barns. Geldings/spays get tossed into the show barn that has room, Mares get labled by generation and thrown in the young mare barn, stallions get culled a bit more through comparison testing and those that pass get tossed in the stud barn.

I do really only run one primarly line, if you had more it might get more confusing. Hence why I stick with one line.
