You should look in the auction house for some show horses. Don't try to look through the catalog on the public auction page, there are thousands of horses and many of them won't be what you're looking for. If you go to the Search Horses page, you can select to search horses that are for auction. You can then sort them by things like PT score, all time points, points this year etc.

The vast majority of the horses up for auction will be in the public auction. You will see a box on their page that says This Horse Is For Auction and there will be a drop down menu to select a bid price. You can't enter a bid unless it's a day when the auction is running(Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday). If you click on a horse from your auction search and you don't see that box, it usually means that the horse is entered in the private auction instead of the public one. Or it could possibly mean that the horse was up for auction but the owner removed it sometime between when you started your search and when you clicked on the horse's page. The private auction is only available to members with a basic or premium upgrade so if you don't have an upgrade you can't bid on horses in the private auction.

Younger show horses with high PTs will make you a lot of money in the future but they won't earn a significant amount until they are older. You should always have some good young prospects in your barns so you have something to replace your older show horses as they age out of the game. You can often pick up young prospects for cheap from the auction. Typically, you can purchase a consistent foal/2 year old that has a PT of 11+ from the PA for around 3k hbs (and often even cheaper) depending on the number of good show babies in the auction and the number of people who are looking to purchase them.

If you need horses that can earn a good amount of money right now, you are better off looking for horses that are a bit older and already have a lot of total points. Remember that a horse's weekly show bonus is equal to its total number of points times .75 so it will earn you money even if it leveled off in a bad place and keeps losing its classes, assuming the horse already has a decent number of points accumulated. I have a mare that leveled off near the bottom of her class and gets last or nearly last whenever she shows. But she already has 492 total points so even if I never enter her in a show again she will earn me 369 hbs (.75 times 492) each week in show bonus. Of course, your best bet if you want lots of show money now is to buy an older horse that has a lot of points and leveled off near the top of its class so it can keep earning more points and profit every week (in addition to its show bonus) but these horses are harder to find for sale because everyone wants them lol. You do not want to purchase a horse with a small amount of points that leveled off near the bottom of its class, especially if you have limited barn space, because it will only earn a very small amount of hbs each week. Don't forget that horses can potentially die and age out of the game when they turn 18. Some horses live a lot longer and some die as soon as they turn 18, it's just random luck.
