Genes from GMT
  • I know Satin is one of them but what are the other genes you can only get from GMTs?
  • I am assuming you mean genes that Foundations can only get through GMTing?
From my knowledge, they are; Kit Promoter, Gulastra Plume and all Fantasy Genes (Ice/Nexus/Axiom).

I don't believe so, but you may be able to get random create GP carriers in rare instances like you can with Snowflake, but I am not sure - someone else may be able to confirm.

  • Yes that is what I meant. Kit promoters would be anything with Kit in it? I'm a little confused about that.
  • @shad0cat, if you go to the Gene Mod Treatment tab under "Advanced Facilities" you can see the list of modifiable genes and their cost in tokens. :)

  • Ammit-thanks for the info.

Ritsika I saw that list. Thanks for pointing it out though. I was just curious about which ones couldn't be generated through the create a horse. I'm considering down the road adding other genes to my herd and I would rather spend the HBs on something I couldn't have otherwise.
  • Genes that do not randomly generate:

    GP
    KP
    Satin
    Sooty+
    All Ice
    Nexus
    Axiom
    White 3
    White M
    White 8
    White 10
    Sabino 2
    Splash 2
    Splash 3
Pearl (but Pearl is on a few rank specials)

I think this list is correct. Please correct me if I'm wrong!
  • You can also use GMTs to make a horse homozygous for a gene that would normally be hom lethal, like frame or splash 2. I know you can do this with a foundation, I'm not sure if you can do it with a lined horse that could have potentially been born hom but was born with 1 or 0 copies.
  • I like building my herd from the ground up anyways. I'd more likely GMT a foundation. That way I could pick one I knew was perfect or better.
  • Btw can you put two gmts on a horse and make it homozygous for something it didn't have if it's a foundation that hasn't been bred?
  • @shad0cat Yes, you can GMT anything you want onto a foundation horse as long as it's 4 years old or less with no living foals on the ground.
  • Yes, you can gmt two copies of anything on. It might cost you more than 2 gets depending on what you want though. to put genes on a foundation I think the price ranges from 1 to 40 gmts for a single gene depending on what you are looking for.
  • Yeah I checked out the prices too. Some of those are insane. It's part of why I wanted to know which ones would be most worth it.
  • Shad0--the ones most worth it are the genes you like the most! If you love splash and tobiano, don't waste your hard earned hbs (or dollars) trying to start a W3 or Kit M line. While there will always be a market for high quality foundations with rare genes or their well bred offspring, you will be VERY hard pressed to make back the investment you've made in GMTs. If you are doing any sort of serious GMTing, like Satin or Kit M, I don't think you could ever make your hbs back. So please, only the horses who give you the most pleasure are "worth it"!!!

(So says a complete GMT addict by the way...love me some cool patterns. So I'm not discouraging you. I just don't want you to see this as an hb making venture because it won't work out that way.)
  • I get what you're saying. I'm just looking for variety more than anything. In general though I wouldn't want to have bought tokens for W2 for instance because there's a bunch of rank specials that already have it and I am patient enough to wait for those genes that can be aquired that way to simply come around. I just wanted to know which ones never come around. Then I know if I want them then I will have to GMT. That's what I meant by "worth it".

Oh and I've done the math and I know it's not going to help me financially. I'm just making it part of my game goal to collect all the colors. At least the ones that can be bought with in game money. Maybe I will never get to satin and white M but it's not going help me if I spend money on gmts I could have gotten without them.
  • All good! I just didn't want you to think you were going to make a mint on straws you sold from a GMTd stallion! And if you aren't dead set on getting everything at the foundation level, you can often buy into lines with the more expensive genes down the track. You'll need to prove you're a responsible breeder and that takes a little time, but in general the Community here is very generous!
  • hehehe no my vision for his straws was more along the lines of pulling as many as possible and stuffing them in the "doomsday seedvault". I'm willing to part with offspring and their straws but I need to protect the initial investment in case the trait ever gets too thin in my herd. It's not that I am dead set on GMTing a foundation I just don't know what my options are going to be.
