my stallion hasn't had any foals, but i can't breed?
  • my stallion, WBA Colourful, hasn't produced ANY foals yet since I've bought him, or any previously. and i don't understand why i can't breed him? i know breeding closes on the 27th of every month. but i brought him way before the 27th, and i haven't been able to breed him. yes i made sure he is a stallion, and not a gelding. but yeah, had him before breeding season closed. and it never let me breed to him, or put him up for breeding for other people, he's a C papered horse too. don't understand?

  • The breeding button is located under 'in-house breeding' in the control panel. Were you clicking that when you tried?
  • I think it's due to breeding season being over.
  • Breeding season will start up for you again in a few days. Til, then, there is a lot of info on the game and how it works in the FAQ area. Your breeding tools are located on your stallion's Control Panel. There, you can put him up for public stud for however much money you choose, or click the In-house Breeding button and it will bring up a section on top that will list all of your unbred mares that are age 4 or over and you can create a foal with any mare that shows up on the drop down list. When you put your stallion up for public breeding, a button will appear on the bottom of the Horse Info page (the one with your stallion's picture!) that says Breed to this stallion. Clicking that button will bring up the section on top that works the same as the In-House breeding button.

Another nifty breeding tool are the pastures. You have a 20 stall pasture available to use when you joined. This is a great way to breed multiple mares to a stallion at the same time. You can put a stallion in that pasture with 20 mares! Mares get a breeding bonus for being in pasture as well!

I notice your boy is a C papered 2nd generation stallion. Would you be interested in a 2nd generation stallion of higher quality to breed this coming season? I'm not sure what your breeding goals are or even if you have any in mind, but I have this pretty guy that I don't need in my breeding program if you would like him!

When it comes to breeding, if you are looking to breed a quality herd, you typically should see an improvement in paper level from a foundation stallion to his second generation offspring. If you foundation is C papered, a B papered colt from him would be superior and enhance they quality of your herd as you go. Comparison testing is another way to tell, though it can be expensive. Horses have different levels of breeding ability within each level of papering, as well. I, myself prefer my second generation stallions to produce A papered foals, but from there, I rely on comparison testing to see who is superior. Using that standard, I can pretty easily get Star papered stallions and gold papered mares by the 5th generation, so it doesn't take long to build up a quality herd!

Lots of people that play the game prefer to breed and buy horses that are "evenly lined." By that, I mean breeding a foundation to a foundation, a 2nd generation to 2nd generation, 3rd to 3rd and so forth. This is totally up to you whether you would like to do that and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! This game is so addictive and however you choose to play is the right way to play. :)
