Looked at his parents and both his mum and dad are het dp, I think. His mothers mother is a dark liver chestnut, so his mum is het dp and his father has had quite a few liver babies, some with no apparent dp in the mum or liver foals dark enough to have 2 copies of dp. His father is a chocolate palomino, het dp.

You know that both of your horse's parents are het DP and het Sooty, so your horse could be het DP or he could have no DP. Breeding 2 het DP horses together gives you a 50% chance of a het DP foal, a 25% chance of a hom DP foal, and a 25% chance of a foal with no DP. It's more likely that your horse is het DP, but it's definitely possible that he has no DP. Since your horse is het sooty, you know he can't be hom DP because if he was his color would be chocolate palomino. Because both of your horse's parents are het DP het Sooty, if you really like this horse it's possible to GMT him to be hom DP and hom Sooty.
