brindle this year
-
I got two brindle boys this year so far. I only have one more herd to breed this season. The first boy got altered by SBA
WO2 1045996 brindle
This guy is waiting to see how he compares to my A papered 2nd gen boy. If he papers AGA he will remain intact.
1053723 brindle
I'm kind of nervous to test him, which will happen tomorrow.Thanked by 1supersarah -
I'd leave him intact no matter if he tested AGA or not they are rare to come by and he should still do just fine in breeding. Plus testing him to an A papered boy seems a little much but thats me I mainly test the same papers together. But congrats!
-
All my 2nd gen boys get comparison tested to the A papered 2nd gen boy. Anyone who doesn't compare AGA gets put up for sale and if they don't sell they get altered and thrown into the auction or put in my show barn. I don't keep any boy who doesn't compare AGA my 2nd gen A boy. That insures I'm breeding only the top B papered boys for my 2nd generation. For my 3rd gen I compare them to the same boy but they have to compare superior to him. This insures I'm only breeding the top A papered boys for my 3rd generation. Yes, it being tough but I wouldn't have it any other way.
-
Yeah that makes sense. Just seems a bit extensive but whatever works works I honestly would probably do the same if I had funds to do so.
-
It's just how I test everyone. I'm not going to cut him slack just because he's brindle. Yes, it is rare but the chances of brindle passing on brindle is really low. It's very unlikely someone can breed an entire herd of all brindle. The chance of him passing it on really isn't high enough for me to justify keeping a horse I normally wouldn't keep. But, this is all speculation. You never know. He might pass :)
-
Maybe hope he does because he will give you a higher chance for a higher gen brindle :)
-
Cute boys! Hope your second one passes his Comp test. I will say I left my gen 2 Brindle colt that passed testing way back when intact even tho he didn't comp test AGA my A. He comp tested AGA my high Bs, so he was still pretty freaking good and some of his offspring are gen 4 Stars now (mixed with a boosted line, to be fair), so you could consider leaving him intact if he is AGA your Bs.
-
Wow two! Lucky you! I hope he passes his comparison test!
-
He didn't pass. He's a low B papered boy. He's going to a player though who right now only has a C papered 2nd gen boy. SO, he wont go to waste and he'll be helping someone out who really wants him and will use him.
-
Too bad he didn't make the cut, but I'm glad he will be going to someone who will use him. Congratulations on getting two! :D
-
Well at least hes going to be of use! Sorry he didnt paper high enough for your herd! Maybe next season!
-
I'm not to worried about it. I've been getting at least one every season because a lot of my RS stallions are brindle. I'm sure I get at least one who will pass.
