S + ?
  • If a horse has this combo what does that signify? Ssty S+
    Anything note worthy?

  • S+ can show when it's het. It just tends to increase dapple expression or show up as brown splotches with dp I think. Here's my two het dp het S+ foals:

And here are my nondp het S+ horses:

    2S A Pretty Plus
    ((he has roan as well))

From what I have found, there is no significant difference between S+Ssty and S+S+ horses, at least not when mixing it with dp is concerned.

  • Sooty+ is a game allele of Ssty. It gives a mottled sort of dappling effect to the usual sooty black hairs reaching down the sides from the spine. If you look along the edges of the dark patches on this horse, you can see the typical S+ effect. It's also a more intense darkening the regular Ssty.

When it was first introduced into the game, I think 10 players each paid Ammit $50 in real money to create it. That was several real-life years ago, and it's since become somewhat common in the game. You can add it to a foundation horse for 20 GMTs per allele. Not a cheap gene, even now, but it's not the most expensive one there is.

  • S+ is a GMT only gene which works similarly to regular sooty (darkens the coat) but also gives a special dappled/mottled look to the coat. It may also make certain colors a bit different than regular sooty--it adds a golden sheen to buckskin wild bays, makes browns have a redder belly, makes liver chestnuts an interesting shade of actual livery red and turns chocolate palominos an amazing deep gold.

It's hard to see the effects on your colt because he's already quite patterned with his Kit M.

This colt is Sooty+ chocolate palomino. You can see how pronounced his dapples are and how he's a different shade from most regular chocolate palominos.

And this guy is Sooty+ black chestnut (homozygous DP). He's almost bay in coloration as you can see.
