Had this foal today. Have you had or seen many buckskins this dark ?

Darkest Buckskin

Sire is a Rhythm so he has DP, would you say his dam might be carrying DP? or is the At and a making him dark. Thank you :)

Rhythm of Four is hom DP so he is definitely a carrier, so your lovely little filly really got the best of both worlds!

I breed for it :) My main 4g stud is a gorgeous dark buckskin!

Actually, Rhythm of Four only guarantees het DP (only Freaky Fridays are hom). The main reason your foal is so dark is the Ata. It probably is at least het DP though. Very elegant.

As I have heard many times (I think Cheers says it the most) het brown is darker than hom brown. I agree with Ondowa, your foal is probably only het dp.

I say it all the time! It's counterintuitive, but Het brown is darker than Hom brown!

I may put together a thread with lots of different brown variations if I get bored with naming foals today. I did a huge one on wild bay a month or so ago. I wish I had book marked it because it was a pretty comprehensive thread.

I'm pretty sure she's at least het dp. Gave me a S+ dp foal and I know it didn't come from the dads side. Just don't know if she's hom dp. Will be repeating the mating to see how often that colour comes up.

Ah sorry! I thought RoF was hom! I don't think I'll ever get the hang of hom and het at with dp :-))
