Eclipse!

Anyone else watching it? I went for a walk on my dirt road so I could look at the crescents in the shadows. Did you know trees make excellent cheap pinhole projectors?

Wow! That's cool!Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.Thanked by 1StarfireAcres

That is cool. I had read that it could happen, but it's great to see the effect for real.
My husband and I watched til just past the maximum shadow for our area, about 70%, when the sun was showing a fairly thin arc of light. We used his shade 10 welding helmets for eye protection and intermittent thick clouds gave us additional rest for the eyes. It was really cool watching the patterns of thinner clouds drift over the sun.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

We had 90% coverage here in Virginia. Whole area was a ghost town since many people left town to see it better. Didn't get to see it in the shadows of trees which is what I was hoping for. Just watched it off the back porch looking through a welders mask.Be not afraid to ask questions. You're not the only idiot in the room.

I live where there was totality, so I was lucky to see it fully. It was very cool!#28036Thanked by 1StarfireAcres

My grandpa has three welding masks, but they weren't strong enough by themselves. We had to try to stack them. :P We only had about 70% coverage here, but it was cool. :DThanked by 1StarfireAcres

95% totality in our town. We snuck out of the office to watch for a bit. Pretty interesting!SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

That picture is so neat RoseFlute! I and some other homeschooling moms got our kids together for a group lesson and to watch it. A lot of us had welding hoods as well. I even managed to rig a hood up to take pictures through. To tell the truth, us mommas were way more interested than the kids. We all remembered watching one at some point during the 80s through pinhole viewers and being disappointed.

Yea when I was walking around during 97% totality. My shadow look really really strange it was like little crescent moons all over my shadow it was crazy..it got pretty dark where I was it was an eerie feeling in the air the street lights came on and the waves were crashing really hard on the rocks at 97% totality then the waves stoped after it passed. I live on the Oregon coast so the tide was doing weird things
-
Hey, that's cool! The tide was weird? That means marine life was affected by the eclipse, too! I bet it would have been really cool to wear a shawl and take a picture of its shadow. :D

I know the tide was really weird splashing on the rocks hard right when it was 97% totality it was really cool to see..and yes that would be cool to take pictures of that kind of shadow :)
