Hypothetical question
-
Since we can GMT parent genes onto foals if they missed them, I'm curious if we can make a foal lethal after it's born. Say you have a mare and a stud that you want to cross, but it's a risky cross because of the white genes. Say you get lucky and miss the lethality and get a live foal. Can you then GMT the foal to have the lethal mix, but still have the foal be alive, since it's already been born? I know the Freaky Friday horses all have 2 copies of frame, but because they are foundation, they are ok with that.
-
Hm. Now I curious as to what I will get. But I'm a little leery of killing foals, too...
-
It's not a GMT adjustment, but Freaky Friday horses are homozygous frame, and survive.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Freaky Friday RS Horses only survive being Hom Frame because they are foundation..I have a stud that is Hom Splash 2 and he is not dead because he is foundation..now hom frame and hom splash 2 are lethal on any lined horse. So I'm guessing that if you were to add a lethal combo to a foal it would die..maybe? Idk Ammit would have to chip in here because I could be wrong lol

You can GMT two copies of frame on a horse. It won't die.Thanked by 1kintara

You can GMT any lethal combination onto a horse of any generation (assuming the parents have the appropriate alleles to contribute) is my understanding. However, remember if you have risky or lethal combinations on your stallion, this significantly reduces your options on what your mares can carry and still have a low risk of lethal foals. Once a foal is "born dead" there is nothing you can do about that.

If that is true then why is there not one Hom Frame horse that is not foundation?
-
Maybe nobody has done it before? It would be interesting to see if it works!DivineDreams ~ 30908

Yes it would be cool to find out if it works I should do an experiment I do love the one of a kind coats/horses
-
I'm just curious if it would work or not. I know the FFs are foundation and you can really put anything you want on foundations and have them be ok. That's why I was wondering if you could make a "live lethal" foal with the GMT options available from a high risk cross, assuming that the foal survived initially, of course. :)

You guys are totally ignoring the people above you who have answered the question multiple times. If you want to know the answer you should read the ones people have already given you in this thread. ;)

No I know that people have said that you can add Hom Frame to a non foundation but I was just confused to see that there are no Hom Frame lined horses in the game so it makes me second guess if it can be done and I want to try it for myself :)
