So I got this pretty girl yesterday. Im wondering why she has that odd flea like ticking of brown down her neck and upper flank?
I think it is pretty cool, yet to see it in another horse. If you have one luke her could you please post a picture.
Thanks -
It's the interaction of the frame (Olw) and the kit genes, in this case KitW. Here's a foal of mine with Kitw2 that has some ticking, I'll try to find another

Some people can get horses with an almost fully white body, framed with a solid colour and flecking all throughout that white. It can look amazing! I think there was one like that posted for the Prettiest Horse contest currently running in the forum.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.

Frame can do amazing things, but a small warning. It is homozygous lethal, which means if you breed two het horses together you have a 1/4 chance of the foal dying before being born (I think in RL the foal does get born, but dies shortly after because it can't really eat/digest food).
What I do for my splash/frame line is that I make sure that the stud I use does not have frame on him. That way I can get all of the lovely patterns on my numerous mares!Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.

@ObsidianKitsune Thank you. I do the same thing. And on any Fillies I keep that are frame I caution myself in the notes. I was just going to ask if that is how I should be doing it. But you pretty much answered my question.

Everyone has their own method. For example, this is how I set up my horses: GenNumber+Line, Name, (F if the horse has frame after the name). That way, i know roughly what breeding ability I have for my horse, what colours they carry that I would be interested in continuing (LV = liver so they have dp, Z = silver so they have silver on them) and, at the very end, that note of F is for me to be careful of any frame crossings. Every year I do a search of all of my frame horses and make sure every one has it. Which reminds me, I'm due for another check of my stock!Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.

I have always created a tattoo for my frames. On HaJ1, it's a yellow picture frame with Olw inside it. That one goes in a corner. Here on HaJ2, where I've mostly gone with simpler designs that fit on a horse, it's a small square diamond, using both a dark and light color so it shows up on anything.
On a dark horse, with the At for brown in the same space.
