Copper Red Bay

I'm going to try and keep this short but I already know because of my inspiration for this this is going to be a long post. When I was a kid we were given a horse by our farrier. He was a 20yr old gelding. His owner had passed away and had left the gelding to his family but they didn't want him. He was given to use with the understanding he would live out the remainder of his years with us. When the gelding arrived we were told his name was Copper, and it suit him. You could loose a copper penny in his coat. He was the flame horse in every book I read as a kid, in the flesh, standing, living, breathing next to me. He was a gorgeous penny red bay even at 20yrs old. At 25 he was going blind in one eye and had a stoke. Though the stoke didn't kill him the vet said it was pretty bad and he would have a repeat and it was only a matter of time. Though he was up and walking the stoke had taken it toll and his quality of life was seriously hampered. The decisions was made not long after to have him put to sleep. I want to recreate Copper and create a whole line that looks like him. My problem is I have no idea what gene's will help me achieve it. I know obviously I'm looking for bay. But when I search bay I'm left with an endless number of horses in all kinds of shades. The search seems daunting. I need direction. If anyone could help point me to the gene's that could help me achieve this goal I would be grateful.

You probably want either wild bay or normal bay, without sooty. I don't know if we can get a really coppery color in bays in the game, though. :T
As for what I found in the search:
I think this is the lightest bay you can currently get.

I did find a few like this, but they all appeared to be older horses that probably haven't been rerolled recently, and genetically aren't different from the first.

Here's a Wild Bay who seems to be about the same shade as the first one.

Unless these work for you, I don't think you'll find a really coppery shade of horse here unless you go to chestnuts, and I don't think that's what you're looking for. :T -
I just found Miss match in my search to, the last horse in your post. That's perfect. No to very little black socks, No blaze, as red as I can find in game with a black mane and tail. Now to try and recreate this lol.

Check out this forum post. It has a bunch of wild bays with various combinations of sooty and DP. I think you may be looking for something like them -
Man some of those are close too. What does satin do to the coat color? Does it lighten it, darken it, what's noticeable? I obviously need at least an At carrier to lesson the black socks, that much I have now figured out.
-
At = brown, I think you want A+ to lessen the black socks. I might be wrong on that though.
-
No, Your right. I have At on the brain. lol. Need more coffee.
-
I believe I will need the white factor as low as possible as well to keep the blaze and the white off the feet and face too?
-
You want A+. Satin gives a rainbowy sheen to a coat. It's a recessive gene, and it's pretty rare. :)
-
Heterozygous satin does nothing to the coat. Homozygous satin gives a rainbow sheen but Im not sure whether it also lightens the coat color... I'm slowly building quite a satin collection if y want to look through my herd. Look for a small q in the suffix after the name.
Alternatively, you can search the satin breeders club or look for it on a horse search...but as Rose said, homozygous satin is pretty rare (almost unheard of in foundations as its quite exy in the GMT lab--40 tokens per copy, which translates to $160). I recently put a single copy on a stallion but could only afford that because of the sale. -
My reddest bays are A+ wild bay with DP.

I can give you Cafe Noir straws or put him up for public breeding if you like. -
Straws would be great Abbey. I have to do more research to figure out the best mare to use. What turns some of them so brown? I know the sooty gene can make them to dark. Would the D gene turn them brown? And probably C gene too?
-
Dun (the D gene), would lighten the coat. The C gene is the location of the cream gene. CC means no gene, CCcr means one cream gene so you get either a palomino or a buckskin. CcrCcr means you will have either Perlino, Cremello or Smokey Cream depending on other genes. There is also a Cprl gene, which means the horse carries a pearl gene, a variant of cream.

Here's a 2nd gen wild bay mare without sooty. She's got medium white factor, which gives her stockings and a blaze, but bred to a stallion with no white factor she might produce foals with less white. If you're interested in her, I'd be glad to sell her to you.

Here is a Wild Bay Dun with no Sty (a gene that darkens the coat)

That would be a great start Sandy thank you.
This is what has be boggled. What turns bays so brown, like this one

Nothing stands out to me. What am I missing or is it just chance of different shades in the game. -
I think it's probably just the normal variations built into the image generator. Ammit deliberately programs almost every part of the game to produce variable results. It's part of what makes the game so interesting.
What's your stable ID? I'll put her up on buddy sale for you.

That was the only thing I could think of as well because nothing else stood out but I didn't know if the game was set up that way or not. -
She's up on buddy sale for you. Just follow her link.
The game is definitely set up with plenty of variability, always a range of possible results.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

These are the fillies from my presumed heterozygous DP wild bay stallion. I would sell you one of the redder ones (possible DP with at least het sooty) if you are interested, or sell you straws. -
http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=321982 This girl if your willing to part with her. Then I'll have the two mares and If Abbey will let me buy two straws that would be an awesome start. I don't think I've ever been this excited about starting a line. There are only three horses that I have come across in my life time that have touched me in a way that I will never forget. Copper being one of them. To be able to recreate him and start a whole line like him is going to be beyond cool. The other two horses was the first horse I ever rode named Woody who was an ex racer living out his days as a trail horse at summer camp. He was so dark he was almost black. Probably where I get my love for DP and liver. The last one was a flea bitten QH named Cocoa. That horse would do anything for me. She use to work at a riding school so she knew everything from western calf cutting and roping to English jumping and hunting. I even got her to "parade walk" down our dirt road once. Don't know how I did it and she never did it again. We would jump the pasture fence bareback and go riding before dawn before I had to go to school. Those were the days lol

What's your player ID?

She's up. I haven't bred that stallion yet this season but when I do I will keep my eye out for foals you might like.Thanked by 1fj1482
