Satin breeding questions.
-
Can someone tell me more about breeding satins. Is it a recessive gene? Can you breed a satin to non-satin and get a satin?
I just bought this guy and want to know if I need to try and find satin mare or if I can just breed him to my blue mares.

Satin requires homozygous recessive genes to show. You can breed him to your blue mares to get het satin carriers, and then breed the offspring to another hom satin stallion or to one of their brothers for a chance to get hom satin foals.

I believe satin must be hom to express. So if you breed to hom mares you will have satin foals. If you breed to het satin mares you have a 50% chamce of hom. And if you breed to a normal horse with no satin you will only get het satin foals.Breeding liver chestnut drafts that carry snowflake and kp.
Also breeder of mushroom, watercolour, chinchilla, splash m, wrong warp and thunderstruck.
Horses generally always available.
PM me for any enquiries. -
