Forum auction postponed
  • I am offering my Exceptionally Perfect chestnut Warmblood mare for sale via forum auction. She is an ideal foundation horse with 950 points and 2 copies of sooty, which should help those players breeding for liver.

I will be saving up for a basic upgrade so bidding starts at 40k and will continue through to 7pm game time on May the 4th.
    ID # - Bid
  • Unsure if I'm not doing this right or I have her priced too high :S
  • Bidding usually starts lower. If it gets close to the end and bids aren't high enough do more promoting and extend it. For 40k most people are thinking I can buy 4 that can make me more $
  • I didn't know if you were allowed to extend the finish time and date as I thought I read that you have to have one to do a forum auction in the first place.
I mean I'd be happy to keep her but I thought she'd be more use to players into the whole homozygous sooty thing, and a foundation having so many points isn't very common. So I can start the bidding at 20k but in all honesty I wouldn't take less than 50 anyway
  • The forum is a finicky place! I saw one Dance Between Two Oceans Foal sell for 500k and another didn't even break 100k! A lot of it depends on what is catching everyone's attention at the moment, which seems to be the aforementioned foals, plus breeding season just opened, so everyone is focused on breeding stock, not show.

I would suggest you either keep her (that many points is worth more than the money to you given how few horses you have) or just bide your time and try to re-auction her in a week or so. I would definitely suggest starting a bit lower if you do auction her, though, as 40k is more like what an ending bid would look like rather than a starting bid. If you don't feel comfortable letting her go for less than that, just keep her. While the money sounds appealing right now, horses with points that high are hard to come by, and she's regularly making you 100 hb a night anyways. Over her lifespan, even if she didn't make any more points, she'll make you 45,000 minimum! As long as you show her, and she makes points, it'll end up being far more than that, too.

God grant me the hbs to buy the ponies I need,
The fortitude to resist the shiny ones I truly don't,
And the wisdom to know there will always be more next time.
  • I will start at 20 if ur ok with that
  • Thanks for the advice @Lallyhop I think maybe the best thing for now is to keep her since there isn't as much interest as I had hoped. I'll just focus on making money in other ways so I can get the basic upgrade. And who knows, maybe she will start my interest in trying to breed liver like everyone else.

Thank you anyway @hiddenvfarm, if I decide to try auctioning her again in a few weeks I'll start at 20k for you :)

Now I have to figure out how to delete a thread lol
    Thanked by 1Lallyhop
  • @SquishLime You can’t delete threads, but editing the post title is perfect. You can probably just let this thread die and start a new one when you’re ready. In the meantime, if you’re interested in livers, I could hook you up with a few. PM me if you’re interested! :)
