I just compared the boys to sire. Got 5 superior sons. Then I tested them against Eclipse and Queen and they all compared AGA to one another. Wondering what I should do now. I know more than likely gelding the boys that were AGA to their sire. The one that tested AGA to their brothers are harder for me to decide. What would you all do? -
The five aga superiors are probably good enough to sell or for you to hand pick the favorite of them.

I'm in a similar boat... Tested my 26 potential stallions and every single one was superior to sire...

If you have superior sons, I automatically snip the ones that are AGA sire. No reprieves unless I can potentially afford to make one a filly if it’s just too stunning to pass up, but that GMTing only comes when I’ve done everything else I plan to for the season.
Of the 5 superior colts, my next step would either be
A) snip/sell all inconsistent
Or
B) sort by color and snip/sell all that don’t best represent your color goals, or got a potentially lethal gene, or whatever you need to do color wise.
And then do the other step if you still have more than the number you need as sires for the next generation.
If after both of those steps are done you still have too many colts, I would snip the higher PT ones for show ponies or maybe, if I knew I had absolutely iron will power, I might keep them to test breed to a small batch of mares and snip whoever has the lower AFPT.Thanked by 1Lallyhop
