If you plan on using embryos today....
-
...don't. Just don't.
I have bred 29 foals through embryo transfer today. Expensive, wonderfully blingy straws and eggs. Just look at all that pretty:

First off, let's adress the fact that I got 19(!) colts and 10 fillies. Do I need more colts? Abso-toot-ly not.
Then, let's look at intact numbers. I've got 5 intacts, wich is not aaaaaall to bad, except 4 of them are colts... And three of them are from the same sire... They are pretty though :)
2 hidden 2628019 YES
Ladies first, aweful dark looking cremello (I'm thinking -at least- het DP, could be hom), and hom Wrong Warp.
2 hidden 2628012 SUP
Het Nexus, het Wrong Warp, het Chinchilla, possible DP
2 hidden 2628030 SUP
At least het DP, possible hom, and het Nexus
2 S walkin 2628100 sup
Hom snowflake, het pearl. I usually don't keep colts that do not test superior to an expro, but I might make an exception for this one. He is superior to sire.
3 nebula 2628111
Het nexus, het DP colt, A papered.

I feel your pain in every way...just went through the exact same thing... average cost of each was a whopping 50,000hbs with straw cost, egg flush, embryo creation and implantation, and testing. Only got one keeper out of all of them. Sick and expensive gamble lol.BREEDING DARKNESS (ok black liver but it sounds cooler)
And Silver Blue Pearls

One reason why I don't use eggs much. I had decent luck with my straws yesterday. I, too, got a bunch of colts. Ended up keeping 5 or 6 (bad me...very bad me). I have 2 up for sale and the rest were gelded. Only got 4 intact ladies. I hope I got this out of my system early. I need more colts like I need another hole in the head....
-
I had assumed that using eggs and embryos would result in foals that are slightly higher on the mare's range like a pasture bonus would. Especially with all the money involved to create a foal using this method.
This is good to know that it doesn't.

Always looking to buy foundation brindle drafts in black, blue roan, grullo, classic champagne, etc.
I work a 7day on 7day off schedule and my activity here will reflect that.
I can be very scatterbrained and forgetful so if I don't get back to you in a decent amount of time just poke me. -
I did some yesterday. Got mostly colts as well and mostly alters lol.
-
Sorry to hear you had a bad run on embryos this morning, that's always heartbreaking especially when they are so expensive. I had mostly colts from embryos and only one didn't pass (of course it had to be the hom snf g2) but 4 beautiful ladies out of the group and all passed (though I'm baffled how Sunshine passed testing and Girlie will have to have the SB2 she missed from dad added).
I have faith the lucky embryo fairy will visit you again!

I love the look of nexus on chocolate palomino, at least you guys got some pretty ones!
Though I am now feeling slightly better about not being able to use eggs now :/ -
Yup, embryo breeding and regular (non-pasture) breeding have the same stats, so it definitely doesn’t give you any bonuses for all the extra money spent. $-)
The only reson I can possibly persuade myself to embryo breed is for my few mares that I really want more than one foal a season (like my hom mu foundation lady, who I usually get lovely foals from but have had a couple expensive snips in there). There’s really no other reason to use it, aside from purchased eggs. Shame you had such a run of bad luck, though! That really sucks! Here’s hoping your luck comes back for the rest of the season :xISO any and all Silver Pocket Watches!

Hopefully my odds are better, got lots of embryos to breed this weekend!

Same here Kintara. My freezer is brimming with awesomeness :x Just gotta keep trying, and hopefully today the AI goddess (that aint no fairy...) is a little less vengeful :P
-
Just shoot me now. I just bred 19 homozygous Chinchilla foals, and 10 stayed intact, wich is pretty awesome. Except there are 2 fillies, and EIGHT colts :)) And I vowed to myself not to use a bunch of GMTs to make foals what I want them this season... Guess I will be breaking that vow pretty fast :PThanked by 1duelinghawks

Aaaand to make it all better (or maybe it's worse....) 6 of the colts are superior to sire. They sure are stunning though :x

I wish it was more like real life. And that you get better quality. I am pretty sure we are only flushing our better mares. It does make it hard to justify. I only flush my hard to get genesThanked by 1BlackWyld

I know the feeling, I'm embryo transferring 2 of my favourite mares this season as they are both old (17 and 18), their first foals have both failed, but hopefully the next ones will do a bit better.
I almost cried over this girl she is so pretty#

Yes, Maribo -- if you change your mind about those colts, I'm sure you'd have people lined up around the block. (Including me.)
