Even breeding question
-
Would a 2nd gen expro and a 2nd gen be considered the same gen? I've heard some people consider a Expro Foundation a 2nd gen.
If I bred these two for example. Would the foal be a 3rd gen.

Those horses are both 2nd gems so their goals would be 3rd gen.
1st gen/foundation is a horse with no parents in the parents line.
Bred together their goals are 2nd gen.
Breed 2 2nd gens and their foals are 3rd gen etc.
This is only in even breeding by generations.
Some people don’t worry about generations and instead breeed on paper level. Where you will see them say an xpro is equivalent to a 2nd gen as it’s papered red and most success would be bred with another red which generally is 2nd gen.
Hope this makes a little sense. It did in my head but took me ages to understand it.Breeding liver chestnut drafts that carry snowflake and kp.

Horses generally always available.
PM me for any enquiries. -
They are both 2nd gen, but the mare is a 2nd gen Blue paper from exceptional producing parents, and the stallion is a 2nd generation B from ordinary create parents.
If you're just counting generations, they are even, but if you're looking at breeding ability, the mare has a higher paper than the stallion. It would be harder to get intact foals from this cross, unless the stallion is a very high B.
However, their foal would indeed be 3rd gen, regardless of whether it remained intact or how they papered.
De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
