Can you guys help me find out his breeding level?
-
I had just recently won a beautiful stud in an auction, and I was stoked to find out that he was a papered and superior to sire. (Also, I have a weak spot for Kitm lol) well I found some 3rd gen blue mares up for public brood for only 1k, so I splurged and bred him a couple times. Not only that, but I bred him to a pretty expensive Kitm mare; (it was like 7k) the foal was snipped. Almost every foal that I've gotten out of him has been snipped. I tried high blue mares, low blue mares, and high red ones. But I believe only ONE of his foals (out of 4) have been snipped. Is this normal with superior to sire stallions? What could I do to get a higher intact rate? He does throw beautiful foals, and I can't bare to watch another get snipped.
III Its A Good Rythm kitm
-
Sounds normal to me. 4 foals isnt alot so dont give up on him yet!
-
Yup! Lol, one day I think I had about seven or eight foals in a row out of one of my favorites that were all snipped.
Another day I hit 9 colts in a row before I finally got a filly... @-)
It’s what we in the gaming world refer to as the “R N Goddess”, lol. The RNG (random number generator) can be very vindictive at times! The plus side is that you’ll eventually get the goods if you keep trying enough times :))ISO any and all Silver Pocket Watches!

There’s a reason studs need 25+ foals to qualify for leaderboards.
4 foals is not enough to judge whether a horse is a good breeder or not.
Also the better the horse is the harder it is to beat him to get intact foals. You need to put a bunch of blue papered mares in a pasture for 30 days then add him to breed them. That will give you the best chance at intact foals.
I have one generation that has a lonely 11year old mare that I’ve been collecting eggs off because I haven’t been able to breed a mate for her. I think I just got a few more mares upcoming in that generation breedable next season and 1 colt bred this season or last. -
Bandit, I have a small pasture of gen 6 mares that I just breed to a gen 6 stallion apparently to get show ponies every season....the mare lag is strong in my gen 4-6s!
-
I'd put both your red and blue gen3's in a pasture and try again next season! Most of my stallions only have 25 - 50% pass rate, worse if mares not pastured. Which is why improving quality sometimes can be quite a challenge! The bonus is that the ones that pass intact are better quality!! Breeding "as good as sire" stallions all the time does nothing to help you improve quality

He looks lovely and a highish A - prob more like 4th gen than 3rd, especially as his grandparents are already exceptionals. You need some pasture bonus for your good blues and you'll get some intacts. Good luck :)
Had a great laugh reading this post! :D -
