I was looking through all of the ice genes, and I absoloutley fell in love with one that is privately owned. So.. That made ne think of a question or two. Yes, I read the FAQ, but I was still curious if (read my questions) are even possible.

1) the private gene I was looking at is BEAUTIFUL! Can I ever own a (snipped) foal with a privately owned ice gene, if the owner agrees and says its okay? Is that possible?

2) how did they come about privately owning a gene? How much does it cost? Are those private genes ever available for sale to others who would pay a price? I know the FAQ said something about them not being available at the time, but will they ever come up for sale again?

You can own a snipped one if the owner sells :) I have one in my barn so I can confirm that.

I hope Ammit comes along to correct anything amiss in the history I'm relating here. She's usually quite good at doing that.

I don't know how much Ammit charges to make a special, privately owned gene. However, I can tell you that a good many years ago she offered to create some special genes that players had been asking about for $500 real money per gene. Satin and Sooty + were a couple of them, I think. What happened was that 10 players each chipped in $50 to reach the total price for the new genes. Then those players were the only ones who could breed or own the genes for quite some time.

Eventually, the clubs for those genes were opened up to carefully selected players, and now they can be purchased in the GMT lab, though they are still very expensive. All this was before Ammit got the dynamic image generator that she uses now, so creating new genes was quite a challenge.

E.T.A. All this took place between 2011 when I started playing HaJ1 and 2013 when I caved in and added Haj2. :)

Hello! Ice 7 owner here! I bought ice 7 back when Ammit "opened the vault" of ice genes. I just happened to be the only one who bought it. And i would be more than happy to sell you a show pony. My foundation boy passed a few seasons ago so i did a show pony giveaway at the time :)

Thanks, @SandycreekFarm! That's actually really cool. Since I'm a newer player, I missed out on that, and I would LOVE it if she brought it back! Lmao we should start a petition :D

(That does make you think, though, why she stopped.. There must have been a reason.)

Yeh I got Ice3 the same way, I guess it's private as I'm the only one that has it, but anyone could buy it at the time, I'm just the only one that did!

There was a few others no-one bought too I think, maybe ice6, and maybe 11 and 12? Some of them were privately commissioned on HJ1/Bluegrass server but they weren't on HJ2 so we had that one time opportunity to buy any of them

*sigh* and I thought ice 13 was the last closed gene I would want to buy. I need to stop looking at flashy ponies. My bank account can't take it anymore :D

I don’t think Ice 11 and 12 were ever offered over here? I remember buying Ice 9 and 10, and the next year Ice 13 was offered and I was already contemplating quitting so I didn’t buy it. I did quit and it lasted about 6 months before I came back so I bought Ice 14 last Christmas. Definitely if the other Ices I’m missing (3, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 13 I think) are offered for sale again I’ll be buying in!

I'd give cash to own ice 13. All of the closed genes are so pretty, but that's the one I want to sprinkle on my dream horse.

I Dont think so either. I did a search and all of the ice 11 and 12 horses are owned by ammit

I'm pretty sure Ice6 was up for sale, but no-one bought it. I couldn't get them all!
