If a stallion has KP, can it be passed to foals from a non KP mare?
-
To see Kp on a foal it needs two KP genes, and two KIT genes, one from each parent. So a stallion with Kp can pass it to his foals, but if the mare doesn't have Kp as well the foal will only carry the Kp, you can't see it. But if you put those carrier foals back to a Kp when they grow up, then you might see Kp foals

Awesome. I just purchased a KP stallion and wanted to know the likelihood of him passing on KP.Thanked by 1kintara
