How to be successful?
-
So I've been a member now since March, and have really in the last month started shaping what I want my breeding program to be. However, I doubt I can be completely successful with just breeding, especially since I specialize in extra tall drafts, and they're demand isnt the highest. So my question for my seasoned friends here is, what else can I do to really become successful? I'm sure adding in some show horses is the key, but what is a good compromise between breeders and show horses? I want to do well on the game other than waiting to spend money breeding... Thank you everyone!Breeder of the tallest drafts

A good ratio between breeders and showers has always been 1:3 or higher. The more show horses you have the more money they bring in, without taking up space in the pasture not showing and creating more horses to fill more stalls.
As for successful you need to come up with your own goals (if you share them the community here will band together to do everything possible to help you reach them)
For me my goal for success has always been to have a completely self sustainable barn with enough extra to afford extra barns and gmts when I’d like to fancy up a new stud for a new line or to replace an aging one.
For the most part I don’t have a lot of extra money in real life so being self sustainable is important. On hj1 this spring I actually switched my goal of breed more show horses and buying new barns for them as soon as they’ve filled the last to putting a cap on show barns and making room in the show barns for new foals.
I was feeling very overwhelmed with show horses. My daily bonus was over 325k/ day and increasing by thousands each week. With the 2 month breeding seasons I was making at least 20 million a game year. And I only needed about 1.25 million to breed and test everything including multiple comparison tests against father and sons and between brothers. The beginning of this week I was down to 168k/day but my goal is to reduce it further closer to 100k. I currently need about a 56k bonus to breed everything. -
You have to define your own success, what do you want to breed for? Certain colours? Improving quality from foundation and up? High PT drafts? Increasing your pointed show horses certainly helps everything, as then you have more money coming in! Devise your own strategies to help you get to where you want to be! People have lots of different goals in this game, so you have to do what suits you. If success to you means having a high daily show bonus, then concentrate on just that, with increasing barn space for higher pointed show horses and adding to them as you can. There is probably more people breeding for drafts too than what you think
