So i am going to get a parakeet for my birthday and i needs names. Whoever thinks of the cutest names will get a straw. Go!

You want a male if possible--they have bluish nostrils, not creamy or tan ones. The males make better pets, are better talkers and more playful with humans, especially if kept alone.

I agree with what Cheers said, except that in my opinion it's more important to get a young one than a male, at which point they're hard to sex.
