A Draft from Two Warmbloods?
-
I bred this Warmblood/Sport Pony mare, http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=531519
to this Warmblood/Sport Pony stallion, http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=528963
And I got this Draft filly. http://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=639393
Here is her extended pedigree. It is all Warmblood/Sport Pony lineage.

This is the first time it has ever happened. I just wondered if it was a fluke, a bug, or if it could happen once in a while.

Who knows what those Foundation Horse Showable Only Black Warmbloods get up to when we aren't looking!
-
Right? It was an interesting surprise! I looked for a reason for quite a while, but I am stumped. So I posted it. :-??
-
Ammit said it would be possible to breed up from riding to draft, or down from draft to riding over time. Looks like your filly got pretty close to the maximum bone from both parents and that was enough to just edge her over into heavy horse territory. Her parents have heavier bone than her grandparents as well.
-
I'm wondering where her plume went. LOL
-
No its definitely possible I remember when we first got drafts and riding horses that Ammit said its possible to breed bone density up or down kinda like height. Her parents are both 2.28 and shes 2.50 shes a lighter draft
-
Wildland--the Plume rarely shows in Foal photos--their tail is too short! It will show when she hits 2!
-
Ah, cool, thanks for the info. She is too cute, I was surprised because I don't breed for drafts.
@Wildland, it sometimes happens with the Splash foals tails also. The bottom white won't show up until 2 years. -
It happened to me this year as well. Definitely was a surprise!

Cool, Couer!
