Troubleshooting.. I installed a hotwire, should be good for 5 acres. I've only got it over 1/2 of 1 acre. I used the twine with the super fine wires. Everything's hooked up. But I can only feel a shock right by the box??? The wire is through the insulators all the way around so it shouldn't be grounding out. Also it shocked me good once and then it was super faint. Is this because it used up the shock and has to build back up?

Is it grounded properly? Or is it being shorted somewhere? Only things my farming boyfriend can think of.

I would check the grounding. If you have dry soil, you may need more ground rods or keep the soil damp at the ground rod.

Ok thanks for the tips :) Ill try some better wire for the grounding rod I just have that twine on it

I agree with ObsidianKitsune and RipshinCreek. and one other thought, It is not a circuit , your end wire should not be attached to the beginning but to an isolated hook. Yes, find real wire to attach to the ground rod and box.

Ours works terribly if there's longer grass touching it. We have to whipper snip under it for it to work correctly.
