Question about "winnings, profit (+)"
-
What is the plus sign for? It appears after all of the win loss stats no matter whether they're earning or losing so what does it indicate?

What page are you looking at, specifically. I'm not seeing anything that looks like what you describe when I check out my barn showing results page or on any horse's individual page.
Profits are the difference between what it costs to enter a horse in a show and how much prize money it receives, based on how it placed. Only the top half of a class make more prize money than the entry fee, so a horse can have a negative "profit" listing, which is shown in red on its Info tab.
However, once your stable becomes large enough, and you have a nice number of high point horses, profits become a negligible item. Every horse in a show (except the one that comes in last) receives a number of show points based on where it placed. The more horses there are in a class, and the higher the Level/Grade of that class, the more points there are to be awarded. We are given a showing bonus every day based on the number of points all of our horses have collected. This bonus, for this game, is 75% of all the points, divided by 7 (the number of days in a week.
This data comes from the Info page of one of my older horses:
Level: Grand Prix
Grade: Local
Training: Leveled Off
Earnings this year: 378 hb's
Points this year: 27.0
Total earnings: 2030 hb's
Total points: 184
Profit: -305
This horse is showing at Level 8L. It is leveled off, meaning that it gains only minute fractions of a point when it is trained.
It has earned 378 hbs in prize money this game year.
It has added 27 points to its total number of points this game year.
It has earned a total of 2030 hbs in its lifetime.
It has gathered total of 184 points in its lifetime.
It has payed 305 more hajibucks to enter shows than it has won during its lifetime.
At this point it adds between 19 and 20 hajibucks nightly to my showing bonus.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

What I'm talking about is where you see winnings and profit right after the number there's a (+) for example it would read "Winnings, Profit 55(+)" or "winnings, profit -127 (+)" I understand positive and negative profit and the impact on the game. I'm just confused about the" (+)" right after it. It would make sense to maybe see it on a positive profit like in the first example. Seeing it there would make sense because it would likely indicate the gain but I'm seeing it also on the negative winnings. This I can't make sense of.

You're going to have to clarify what page you are talking about. Is it a horses show records, on the Records page? or something on the Showing menu? A link would be best.
I know I've seen what you are talking about, I just can't remember WHERE! -
Ah HA! Found it. On a search page! After profits: http://hj2.huntandjump.com/adv_search.php?owner=1998&owner_lm=like&barn=14380&barn_lm=like&runsearch=1
I will venture to guess that that is an old feature that doesn't work any more? Back in the day profit and loss were a bigger deal, now we are more interested in points. -
I think, (and it's only a guess) that maybe if a horse has gained profit in its last show, there will be a (+), even if the profit is still in the red. There will be a (-) after the number if the horse lost money by finishing in the bottom half of the class, even if its total profits are positive.
Examples:
This horse has a negative profit of -317 (in red) followed by a +.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
It placed 4th of 10 in its last class, meaning it reduced the amount of its loss.
This horse has a negative profit of -144, with a - behind it.
Second Last Chance
It placed 12 out of 12 in its last class, meaning it increased the amount of its loss.
This horse has a positive profit of 247 hbs, with a + behind it.
Pearl Wishes
It placed 3 out of 17 in its last class, increasing the amount of its profit.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

That all makes sense. Thanks.
