Help with show horses
-
How do I know who is showing well and who to sell?
How do I get my show bonus up? Any advice? Thank you -
Congrats on managing to train and show all your horses - that is so hard when you first start because you have to train and show all by hand. I am just remembering how tricky it is with my competition new account. You are doing well. It's hard to know with foals so don't automatically think they are no good because they start by scoring -1 at shows. It takes time really but I think after the competition there may be a lot of show horses up for sale (cheaply hopefully). :)

Also selling horses won’t really be a big money earning endeavour. A lot of the big barns have so much extra money because they sell very few horses and the good horses cover the weaker point earners and all points go towards your daily show bonus.
On my contest account (on day 19 from creation) I’ve been having great luck buying the foundation rescue horses (ID# 13) they are all perfect foundation quality and have been sitting being trained since they were bought by the rescue. The rescue has recently started to show the horses so they are all getting a few points on them. I’ve been picking up ones with 30-40 overall points for 2750hbs and they’ve been earning quite a few more in the short time I’ve owned them. My daily show bonus is up to 213hbs/ day as of this morningThanked by 1DinaChill -
Also your daily show bonus is automatically paid to your account around 3 am game time. You don’t have to collect it.
Edited: sorry, I read how do I get my daily show bonus, not how do I get it up. Please ignore me. Time for the third coffee today because the second didn’t fix the problem! -
Thank you everyone for the help! I have been keeping most of what I breed I have sold very few mostly ones with very low pt scores. I geld or spay the others and the inconsistent as well.
I do go thru and show everything! -
The way I started growing my show herd is this. I have a huge herd that has grown over time so this can be slow but once it gets going it grows pretty quickly. After I breed all my horses I sell enough foals to buy the IV's to purchase a 30 stall barn. Currently that means I need to sell 55 foals to purchase a 30 stall IV barn. At this point 55 foals is nothing for me because I'm breeding multiple lines. This season I had over 600 foals. The amount of IVs to buy a 30 stall barn will be less when starting out and increase as you own more barns. I sell the lowest PT grade horses and then put the top 30 PT grade foals in the new show barn. I also make sure I don't have any empty spaces in all my other show barns. I make sure I buy at least 1 new 30 stall show barn every season. Sometimes I buy more. When I started it sometime took more than 1 season for me to be able to buy a IV barn but now that my show bonus is constantly growing I'm able to have multiple breeding lines which leads to more altered foals which in turn allows me to build my show herd even more. It's slow but it can be done without spending real money. Also doing it this way because a while back I had a mass age out of game group of my show herd which made my show bonus drastically drop. Doing it this way I'm only looking at loosing maybe 30-50 show horses when roll over occurs.
