Lost a foal

So I bred pasture bred three of my mare’s but I only received 2 foals instead of 3. I looked through the mares and it says all three mares have been bred this year, I was also charged for breeding all three mares. Gressara is the mare who’s foal didn’t show up. It says she’s been bred this year, but when you go to look at her offspring on her family page It shows she has no offspring like I’d already sold the foal back to the game. I also checked to see if I had accidentally sold him back to the game without noticing, but I was never paid the thousand for the foal.
I’m brand new to the game so I don’t know if there’s something else I should check. So if someone could help that’d be great. -

I'd say you got a lethal foal. That mare carries frame (bay frame herd helper tattoo) and I'd say the stallion you used must have as well. Pasture breeding doesn't give you a notification when you breed a lethal foal, you just end up with one (or however many lethal foals there end up being) less than what you expected.
-
Ok. Thank you. So if I don’t want this to happen again I should not breed frame and frame together?
-
Yep that's definitely what would have happened, I had a quick look through your pasture and your stallion carries frame as well. To avoid lethal foals, don't breed two frame horses together. There are some lethalities associated with the kit genes and splash 2 and splash 3 (I think splash 3 is homozgyous lethal as well as lethal with splash 2). The kit lethaly thread is a good place to learn these! Its mainly the W genes you need to watch out for

I agree with GallifreyanAngel.
If you double check the gene test/color name for the stallion you used, he most likely is another Frame (Olw) carrier. If both sire and dam carry Frame, there is a 1 in 4 chance of a dead foal.
I would recommend finding some way to mark the Frame carriers in your herd. It always shows up in the color name, but if a horse has no genes that create white spots (Kit mutations and Splash in particular) it is a Ninja that sneaks around with nasty surprises up its sleeve. Adding Olw as a prefix or after the horse's name should help.
Here's a link to lethal Kit mutations that you should be aware of as well.

Great minds, GallifreyanAnge. :DDe gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Splash 2 is also homozygous lethal.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Some people use a specific haalter color to designate horses with potential lethal genes.

Haalter, that's the kind you buy at IKEA! :p
