Finally chose a breed name
-
As the title says, I finally chose my breed name! I have been playing for almost two years and have been too fickle to choose a name. I was searching around for pretty words and fell in love with Meraki. It is Greek and means to do something with soul, creativity, or love; when you put “something of yourself” into what you’re doing. That is exactly how I feel when I ride. How did y'all choose your breed name?
-
@Painted Dreams that is a great breed name mine is Imaqt, because it combines two of the words in my horses registered name, Ima and QT
-
Mine was from one of the first horses I got and possibly one of my favorites from this game! Mine is Amos, the meaning in Hebrew is strong and brave.EasternShowBarn

I've said this before, but I'll add it to this thread, too.
I chose my breed name for HaJ1 based on my stable name Sandy Creek. I looked it up in various languages and chose the German Bachsandigan as my breed name.
When I started playing this version, I kept the stable name Sandy Creek, and again went looking at how it would be said in other languages. This time I chose Norwegian, and ended up with Sandbuktian horses.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
SandyCreek Farm: ID# 441
also playing H&J1 as SandyCreek Acres: ID# 137592 -
LOL =)) =))
-
=)) How did you come across that word?! =))
-
I don't even remember, it has, literally, been decades! Butt it is absolutely perfect, doncha think?! :D
-
It's great! And as a lover of quarter horses, I like me a well-shaped buttock. :-))
-
The Callipygian Venus is an ancient Roman marble statue. Maybe you got it at a museum?#28036
-
I chose Lucandrew as my bred name! It combines the name of the 2 people i love.. Lucas my 18month old son and Andrew, his dad and my partner who we sadly lost a year ago in an accident.Breeding liver chestnut drafts that carry snowflake and kp.
Also breeder of mushroom, watercolour, chinchilla, splash m, wrong warp and thunderstruck.
Horses generally always available.
PM me for any enquiries. -
What a great choice is breed name, I love the meaning behind it :).
My breed name is Salixan which is a play on salix(willow). A paddock I love to ride in has willow trees and my mare who is coincidentally also called Willow has hindend problems so I pick the low hanging branches for her to chew on when she's having a stiff day. From that I have a strong association with willow and horses. I am also a forage technician who's brother is an arborist so latin names tend to role of my tongue quicker then common names :)) -
I haven't chosen one yet. Am thinking of doing this before next season. I was thinking of Caddoian it is an Indian that my husband spent time with. Who my horse is named after the Caddo Indians. My horses name as you can see is Caddo.
-
I chose my breed name, Aurum, because it's the name of a type of gold/bronze, which goes with my theme of GoldenShoe :)
-
I love the stories behind everyones names! @Best friend I think Caddoian is a great name!
-
I really feel like having the rules about breed names adds to the game. If it was full of "Unicorn", "Diamond", "Blueribbon", "Champion", "NewJersy" etc breed names it would just feel childish and would pull people out of the immersion. I did not want breed names that would make people not want to buy a horse. The rules make everyone think a little harder about the name and just just pick the first random thing they think of. Now the names have meaning.
My breed names (I recently changed mine) have always had a lot of personal meaning. I love that they do for a lot of people!

Thanks @ Painted Dreams. I think I will change it now. I love that horse. He is by my APHA stud and my favorite mare Cinnamon who is a racking pony. I got the best of both worlds you could say. Lol
-
I think the guidelines for the breed names are a good thing as well. I keeps the game magical!
-
I love them all! I'm real picky and can't figure out what to do for mine. Maybe just KAM? It's my initials and my identifier, but can't decide if I really want one yet or not. :)
Confluence has the best. Hands down! :))Breeder of Quality Warmbloods and Show Horses
Lover of Brindles, Blacks, Buckskins, Blue Roan's, Bays, Grey's and SABLES! And addicted to Ice, Pearl and the color Purple.. :P

I chose Seraphic, a less commonly used word for angelic.
Mostly because when you finally catch the ponies where I ride when they have just been super unhelpful cantering around the field and refusing to come in they give you the most super angelic like look. It's like they are saying 'who, me? Naughty, never. Did you mention food?'. You can literally never be cross at them.
I also chose it because I simply like the word.Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms -
I'm guessing breed names are for use with paid accts? I haven't looked that up but assumed it would be a paid for 'perk'. Also for those of us that enjoy several of the sizes from RH up to draft, do we still only use 1 breed name or do we use a breed name separate for each of the sizes (RH, WB, Draft)?
Thanks for the help! -
Mine is Wóch, I'm quite picky with original sounding names, but this one literally means stone on Haitian Creole. I loved the sound of it when I first came across it.
@PrairieHaven yes, breed names are for upgraded players and you choose one to apply to all the horses you breed no matter their size.Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms -
I chose Réalta because it is the Irish word for star, and I love how it sounds.ID: 16853Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms
-
@Painted Dreams - that's lovely!
Dinascar became Dinascarian. But Dinascar comes from Tolkien elvish meaning silent river - it was the name of my first cat who lived to be the ripe old age of 20 :)
I love the thought everyone puts in to their names.
I have yet to chose one for ChilliFireFarm. Any thoughts?Thanked by 1KAMRanch -
@Dinascar a hot pepper name would be cool, like Manzano, Chiltepin, or Capsaician.ID: 16853
-
@CWScowgirl - yes they sound good - thanks. :)
-
Capsaician is a great one! Choose that one! :x
I hear that word fairly often living in a house full of boys who love spicy foods.. =))Breeder of Quality Warmbloods and Show Horses

So cool to see everyone's answers! On this account I breed (or try to limit to lol) ponies. I have Didymusin ponies, inspired by Sir Didymus the noble and brave little fox in the movie Labyrinth. He is full of spirit larger than his body and is an excellent horsefox too! (We also call my chihuahua/papillon mix Didymus from time to time when he is being such a fierce small doggo hehe!)
For ZefSoFres stables I kept it simple with Zefari. Zef is a South African Afrikaans word that has come to mean cool, fresh, "maybe I'm broke but I'm still classy" and is a culture, in the way hip hop became a culture. It also was influenced by Rastafari. A combination of two next-level ways of thinking :) -
My breed name here is asherah who is an Egyptian goddess of fertility and motherhood and my breed name on hi1 is gypsum which is a rose shaped rock called the desert roseCelestial Performance Horses
ID 15335Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms -
My breed name is Zilian, I forgot what language it is in but it means blue! :))Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms
-
Andreme - An are the first two letters of my first name. Dream Girl is my favorite horse. I just changed the spelling of Dream and put them together. :D
Suppose the be pronounced An Dream. I dont know how an outsider would say it, not knowing that.
I guess it depends on how you look at it could also be seen as And Ream or Andre me lol. -
@NetLevelGen I love your breed name! My sister and I love the Labyrinth, mostly because of the glitter and David Bowie :))
-
I decided on Elementium - elemental in latin is elementum.Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms
-
@GoldenShoe David Bowie in tights totally makes that movie!
-
I chose Singularus for my breed name after gravitational singularities. The center of a black hole and the point at which gravity becomes infinite.Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms
-
@dark star that is very interesting. I had never heard of that before.
-
I chose Nobiless (noblesse) that means Noble birth, Greatness in Arabic because of my love for the arabian thoroughbred :x
Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms -
I chose Ikigai (ee-kee-gah-ee) which is a Japanese word that means reason for being, and is something that brings satisfaction and meaning to life- horses are my Ikigai :)
