Worth Unalerting?
  • I managed to get four intact star foals out of this pasture, but only one gold mare and she was spayed. Is it any use unaltering her or should I trust the system spayed her for good reason? She's so darn cute too!

  • If you unalter her then try the BA test again, itll do the same thing and spay her. Id check to see if she is superior, and if she is then i would unalter and keep her for breeding :)

I would just keep her untested if I did unalter her. Her mother is blue, which is why I am so confused! Could it be because she isn't as high as her father?

  • It might be a mix of that. If her father is a very high star, that would've altered her. Or if her mother is a high blue and she ended up being worse, that would also unalter her.

Honestly, that decision is up to you. If you're happy to keep that mare knowing her paper level, and don't mind spending the gmts to unalter her, then do so. However it can be a slipperly and expensive slope.

  • That could be it. Youd have a higher chance of getting an intact foal if the mare you used was gold papered- at least, thats my guess.
  • Funnily enough, my gold x star pair gave me this... It must be a bad year for me, haha!

  • A gold filly cannot be worse than her blue mother. The paper is absolute. But she may not be much better than her mom, and as Obsidian noted, her dad is quite a high Star.

I guess I didn't realize how much higher in paper he was. This is my first year using him as a stud, so I had no idea what to expect. He gave me some high PT show horses though and some really pretty kids, so that's the positive there.

  • He’s a fabulous stallion! As for unaltering, I’d do it and just turn off her testing if she’s a color you want and you can afford it!
  • @Cheers
I'm glad you think so! Now my mares just need to catch up with him, haha! I went ahead and unaltered her because she was so cute. :)

  • They are compared to both parents, so if her sire is a high Star and she's a low Gold she'd be spayed. That's why less stay intact when breeding uneven quality as they have to be as good as the better parent to pass SBA
