Liver Chestnut/Chocolate Palominos.
-
I was told last month to put a Liver Chestnut Frame colt up for 30,000 because he was 'too low.' So this month I put his full sibling, a Chocolate Palomino Splash Appaloosa Frame, for the amount I was told to put his full sibling up for and now can't sell him for that because too many players voted he was too high. Why is this?

Figuring out the sales market is like playing the stock market! You have to be psychic to figure out what the buying public wants, and even then what they want will change tomorrow!
The 'economy' over here is soooo different from the western game I played, I still am not sure what to charge. If I have something I think may be valuable I will ask some of the players I trust what they think before I put the horse up for sale. I would use the fact that the price was voted down as a guide, and certainly not a criticism.
It sounds like SOMEONE is interested in your boy....he is one of only 2 with that color combination in the game. Ask, on the forum, for them to PM you and make an offer!

I think it's because the first foal was Homozygous DP, making him a black chestnut, and the second foal is only heterozygous DP. :P
The first foal is more valuable because his coloring was simple enough and rare enough to appeal to a wide range of people's needs, but the second foal is still valuable, don't worry. I'm sure there will be plenty of bidders. :)Thanked by 1DonkeyGirl -
I can't remember what you were selling the liver for, but it was originally too low as I reacall... I'd have said 30k was too high for a liver chestnut, too, though. If you've got a horse with somewhat rare genes and you're not sure what to sell them for you can always try a forum auction, or ask.
Personally, were I in the market for a colt like yours (he is beautiful, by the way), I'd be willing to pay up to 15k.

Hmmm....I put both those color names in the search. The first color (the Liver Chestnut Frame) came back with 116 results, but the second one came back with only 2.
I get the part about the DP, but it would seem to me that the second colt would be more valuable if you were going by the rarity of the color.

The reason you don't come up with a lot of chocolate palominos in a search is because the "chocolate" part was just added with the liver leaderboard/club. So, the color isn't terribly rare (it is =somewhat= rare, and sometimes hard to detect), but unless the person with a chocolate horse refreshed that part of the color name won't show up.

Thank you for all the information!

I just had an offer for what I originally put him up for would I be able to put him back up for it?
-
Not until a week after he was voted down, or you can sell via buddy sales if you have a premium upgrade.
