....on the Geek out/fandom thread, and I REALLY want to show off my fun stuff, so I'm starting another!
I went to Wizard Con St. Louis April 2nd and got my picture taken with David Tennant and Billie Piper!
2 years ago I got my picture taken with Matt Smith, but Tennant is probably my favorite actor of all time.
Yep, just a bit of a Doctor Who fan. You can blame it all on Gael. She's the one that tossed me into the untempered schizm!
And I LOVE Mercedes Lackey! -
Speaking of fandoms, is anyone watching The Night Manager? BBC new series with Hugh Laurie and the guy who plays Loki in the Marvel movies (can't remember his name to save my life). I've only seen the first episode so far but I'm looking forward to getting caught up this week--it looks incredible!
Also, Game of Thrones. Cannot wait for it to start up again!!!
And I'm rereading all the Harry Potters getting ready for the new movie and the play script coming out. Has anyone invested in the new illustrated book? I'm really tempted but haven't taken the plunge yet....mostly because I'm not quite sure how to explain to my husband that I'm doubling up on those books.... -
You can't remember Tom Hiddleston?!?
Oh, yeah...I'm also a Sherlock fan. -
There's like 8 of them that all look the same--young, slightly androgynous and in scifi sorts of things. I can't keep them straight.Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms

That's SOO cool, Dena! Have you seen Tennant's Much Ado About Nothing? I think it's our favorite version. :D
We've had a bunch of players join recently, so maybe we should resurrect that Geek Flag post, what do you think? :) -
I loved, with more exclamation points than Ammit will allow, Much Ado About Nothing! Catherine Tate was so good as well! I bought it on Digital Theatre, and watch it every now and then. Broadchurch (NOT Gracepoint, TYVM!), and The Escape Artist, and Spies of Warsaw are wonderful as well.

Cheers - all those pretty boys are in a BBC series called The Hollow Crown. I haven't seen it yet, but it covers all of Richard II, Henry IV parts 1 & 2, and Henry V. They come off as MUCH more mature in Shakespeare! It's on my wish list!
-
Oh, really? Are you saying that despite their actual history, in the series they appear more mature, or that the characters in the series are not nearly as mature as they are in plays? This I gotta see...
-
Rose, I concede that one could find many similarities between King Henry and Loki, and that Tom Hiddleston could, therefore use one as the basis for the other.....oh, who am I kidding?!
It has nothing to do with the venue. Loki is a brat, albeit a very handsome brat that looks great in horns, Henry is, in my opinion, more arrogant, but more in tune with his.......oh, nevermind!
I'm saying Shakespeare is more mature than Marvel...yes. :P
Well, except for Jessica Jones...that was some pretty mature stuff! (Have you SEEN aka Jessica Jones? Wowza!) -
Hmmm...being in Aus I have ready access to all things BBC. I may have to check that out. I'm definitely a fan of all things Shakespeare!
-
Ooooh, thanks for the tip about Night Manager... I love Tom Hiddleston. Hugh Laurie is okay too. I liked him a lot better in Blackadder than I did in House. LOLOL
I don't watch a lot of TV, usually when I'm making jewelry I'll watch a Netflix TV series, currently watching Once Upon a Time. -
I gave my TV away. I discovered that I kept Law and Order and NCIS reruns on all the time. Now I just buy whole seasons of The Big Bang Theory and Doctor Who on Amazon. ( And Sherlock when it's on). I much prefer to read.
-
I hear you Dena, I always have the NCIS and Criminal Minds reruns going in the background.Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms

Fantastic! :D
