I wasn't going to enter this, but why not right? No idea how to add points and I also had trouble which horse to pick (it was a tie between this stallion or his mum)

Color Good: DP is dense pheomelanin. It is the darkening gene responsible for making red based horses into liver chestnuts, liver red duns and chocolate palominos. It only darkens red colors, not black, so it's silent on black based horses like Ouroborus. Basically, horses have 4 possible "slots" for darkening genes--2 for DP/dp and 2 for S/Ssty/S+. A red based horse with 3 of those 4 slots filled with a darkening gene will be liver/chocolate. There have been many threads about DP in the last few months and you can search them by putting liver or DP in the search box and see what we have said. DP also darkens/reddens bays and turns wild bays (A+) into blood bays (blood red with minimal black points). If you look at the offspring of my homozygous DP stallions linked below, you can see the range of colors produced. DP is particularly hard to pick out on champagne horses.

In the case of Ouroborus, he may in fact carry DP. His great grand sire is a liver red dun and his granddam is a liver chestnut. His (black based) father never gave me any liver babies, though, so we cannot definitively say that Ouroborus carries DP unless he gives you liver babies that you know aren't from the mare's side!

Sorry for the lecture...I love that boy though and I really hope he's giving you a bunch of shiny show ponies! And having DP would just be a wonderful bonus!

Oh wow three times so exciting! and I wasnt going to play.. haha I'm glad I decided too it was super fun. I love when we can all interact in ways like this. I wish I was creative enough to think of a fun little game or contest!

And don't you worry about us we're patient you just take care of your girl. I hope shes doing better. She'll get used to that stupid grazing muzzle lol. I have a chunk too except hes not even on grass...but hes on a diet now lol and now that his issues have been figured out with his vet visit last week he can be exercised regularly lol
