Do we have any players here who are naturalized citizens of the United States?
-
If you are a member of the HaJ family who happens to be a naturalized citizen, I would like to offer my celebration Stars and Stripes to you as a gift.More power!Thanked by 1WhiteMountain

Awe cool. Never heard it that way before.
-
sorry, @bestfriend, but as @levesel2 said, yes, I meant immigrant citizens. Although I will extend the offer to those born to naturalized citizens, since I realize the Venn diagram of a/HaJ players who b/are naturalized and c/read the forums ad d/log in today as it's a holiday may be very very small intersection.
@bestfriend, if I get no responses and the clock starts to run down on the create, I'll give you first dibs on the horse at create price, how about that?More power! -
Ok. I will buy at RS prices.

Puissance - what a cool idea!
My family has been here longer than the US has existed. But a lot of them fought in the Revolutionary War, which is cool to think about today!
-
@WhiteMountain, were your ancestors Natives, or European/Pilgrim immigrants? think Either way, I agree it's super cool to think of having that sort of thing to ponder especially today.More power!

They were very early settlers (1600's) in the Massachusettes and Virginia colonies - some were even on the Mayflower. While all the men were recorded, many of the eariler women were not, so who knows if some of their wives weren't native. I learned all this through grandma's stories and then Ancestry.com. Like HuntandJump, it's an online database where you can spend a lot of time!
Some of the stories you can read about the toughness of their lives really put our modern troubles in perspective! -
@WhiteMountain Ancestry.com has proved very useful in tracking my lineage. FamilySearch.org has also been useful, and I was able to track a little further using it, as well as run down a few people I was having a hard time withPlayer ID 37457

@White, my family traces back to the early colonists too. My aunt traced my paternal grandmother's (her mother) family back to the Pilgrims. Father and son came over on the Mayflower but the females were put onto the Speedwell (the second ship that had to turn back) and they came over later. Our part of the family changed the spelling of the last name at some point (dropping the ending 'e').
I also had a Scottish great-grandmother and a great-grandfather that was born here to Hungarian parents and he moved back there and then back to the US.
When I've been asked what my background is I usually say European mongrel...I have English, Scottish, French, German (and Pennsylvania Dutch German), and HungarianThanked by 1WhiteMountain -
On my dad's side, my family traces way back, including a Cherokee who had a settler wife, but on my mother's side, my grandmother (her birth mother) came over from England and holds dual citizenship. My mother's adoptive father came from Swedish immigrant parents, but was born in the US. I find it fascinating to do what research I can, but I've not had as much luck on Ancestry and similar sites as I would like. Most of what I know came from talking to my grandparents (all three sets, which is as wonderful as it sounds :x).ISO any and all Silver Pocket Watches!
God grant me the hbs to buy the ponies I need,
The fortitude to resist the shiny ones I truly don't,
And the wisdom to know there will always be more next time.Thanked by 1WhiteMountain -
@WhiteMountain, I'm going to say you were the first reply that pretty much suits what I had in mind, since no direct or first-generation immigrants have replied.
What size/weight, sex, and age would you like your Stars and Stripes?
There's about eight hours left on the create, so if I haven't heard back in, say six hours, I'll peek at your barns and see if I can guess your general preferences.More power! -
@WhiteMountain, I don't want to risk falling asleep and losing the create, so I selected a Draft filly for you:
