PT expectation by generation
  • I was wondering if there is an expectation for PT score by generation. I remember reading about it a long time ago when I was still getting the hang of the game but in searching now I can only seem to find information about paper level by generation.

I know that PT score has nothing to do with breeding ability, but I know from my own herd that it rises from generation to generation.
  • I think someone had mentioned before that a .5 increase would be ideal/perfect, but it doesnt matter that much :)
  • In general I recommend looking for an AFPT (average foal PT) increase in your mares rather than an absolute PT increase in your foals. If you cull by PT, you will eliminate some foals that would have been good breeders. If you cull mares by AFPT, you will eliminate the less productive mares!

Remember when culling by AFPT to compare apples to apples — similar stallion quality, similar pasture bonus or lack thereof, and at least 3 living, tested foals.

To calculate AFPT, add up all of the PTs of the mare’s foals and divide by the number of foals. If you have the premium upgrade, this number is calculated for you automatically, but remember you need to open every mare’s page after you test her new foal to update her AFPT score!
  • Oh I'm not looking to cull by PT, just wondering what kind of increase I should be looking for. My 3g foals I just bred are all centered around 10.5 which seems a tad low in my opinion but I don't really know.
  • My second gen studs AFPT generally range from 10.47 to 10.77, some from C/Yellow and some are B/Red. 10.5 PT's seem about normal for 3G, compared to my heard.

  • I expect mine to be closer to 11, but I use full pasture bonus for everything and I benchmark breed, not even paper breed. This means I will see more aggressive increases in paper and PT than those who even paper breed.
  • If you haven't got full pasture bonus 10.5 is pretty good. My foals that pass breeding advice with no pasture bonus are prob around the 10.2 mark by 3rd. Those with pasture bonus vary between 10.2-10.8 by 3rd - I don't get many 11s unless they are still red at 3rd. I do have some pasture space but not a lot (and no where near enough for all my breeding mares!) so I have to accept my foals may not be quite so good on average as some. I am ok with that as I love to breed :X
  • My mares never leave the pastures, so they are getting the full pasture bonus. I have gotten higher than 10.5 in other batches, and I haven't finished completely testing all of the foals. It looks like it's about where it should be then!
