In my opinion, if you don’t have access to papering, when you’re breeding even generations you should test. But if you’re totally in love, you could always leave her intact and see how she produces.

I think she is almost guaranteed to fail BA.. her mom papered yellow, and her father was a B. There is a very small chance that she'll stay intact..
-
If the mare had a pasture bonus there's a possibility she could pass. I've had a lot of yellow/B cross foals pass BA with full pasture bonus (often too many, haha). If no pasture bonus, then I agree; she's likely to fail BA.Breeding silver black, grullo, and blue roan drafts with appaloosa, tobiano, kit m, and other patterns. I also breed watercolor, nexus, and chinchilla.

Another question, I've looked all over but can't find anything explaining the papers. Like best to worse. Any help?

As per the FAQ:
◦4 Breeding Inspection – aka Papering
◾Stallion Papers
◾Showable Only: This means just that, should only ever be used for showing. Consider it a definite fail as far as breeding stock is concerned.
◾C: This represents basic/foundation level breeding ability. Perfect quality foundation stallions are C-papered.
◾B: Exceptional foundations and many 2nd generation stallions are B-papered.
◾A: Only exceptional foundations that have been given 5% breeding boosts can expect to see A papers. Otherwise, these are sometimes bred in the 2nd generation, and often in the 3rd.
◾*Star: This is the highest a stallion can paper. You normally will find this, albeit rarely, in boosted 3rd generation lines - most often in 4th and beyond.
◾4a This inspection will provide you with an idea of how good a breeder your horse will be. Whereas Breeding Advice and Strict Breeding Advice will tell you if a horse SHOULD be bred, Breeding Inspection will identify the level of that breeding ability. Stallions and mares have different papering ranks/levels.
◾Mare Papers
◾Failed: The mare equivalent of a stallion's "Showable Only" result. This mare has no place breeding
◾Yellow: This represents basic/foundation level breeding ability
◾Red: Exceptional foundations and many 2nd generation mares are Red-papered
◾Blue: Only exceptional foundations that have been given 5% breeding boosts can expect to see Blue papers. Otherwise, these are sometimes bred in the 2nd generation, and often in the 3rd.
◾*Gold: This is the highest a mare can paper. You normally will find this, albeit rarely, in boosted 3rd generation lines - most often in 4th and beyond.

Breeding for all version of black drafts. (Including black liver)
Help me build my black brindle army!
Always looking to buy foundation brindle drafts in black, blue roan, grullo, classic champagne, etc.
I work a 7day on 7day off schedule and my activity here will reflect that.
I can be very scatterbrained and forgetful so if I don't get back to you in a decent amount of time just poke me. -
So why would she fail BA if her mom was papered higher than the dad? That's the part I'm confused on. Shouldn't the mother be higher papered than the sire?
-
So basically, bc the mares papers is 4th on the list for best and the sires is 3rd on the list for best per the sex categories is what will cause her to fail BA.?
-
Don't quote me, but from what I've heard, is if the foal is significantly better/worse than either parent, it'll fail BA. In her case, she's probably going to paper better than her sire, but worse than her dam.
Someone should come along behind me and verify any of that. :-?? :-? :-/ ;)Love,
Spry -
This is so confusing! Lol
-
The list shows worse to better. The mare papered worse than the stud by a step.
BA snips if the foal is worse than either parent. It allows better / as good as or slightly worse through intact.
SBA is a bit stricter so let’s less through intact.
The foal could end up being better than the dam so could stay intact if it was just compared to the dam. But unless she won the luck of the draw she will have a harder time being as good as or better than her sire
