That moment when you hit BA instead of BI on ALL your boot strap pasture foals... One, I repeat one, made it out, and that ONE is a stallion. I just can’t. :-((
-
Ouch! :(
At least they’ll make good show ponies while you wait for next season.ISO any and all Silver Pocket Watches!
God grant me the hbs to buy the ponies I need,
The fortitude to resist the shiny ones I truly don't,
And the wisdom to know there will always be more next time. -
There’s a light at every tunnel X_X

Ouch :( I did that last season!Breeding liver chestnut drafts that carry snowflake and kp.
Also breeder of mushroom, watercolour, chinchilla, splash m, wrong warp and thunderstruck.
Horses generally always available.
PM me for any enquiries. -
oh no... you're not alone, although that is probably little comfort at this point. I'm sorry.
Were you breeding for any particular colors in that group? -
Ouch! That's too bad! At least you have a bunch of nice show ponies now.

I did the exact same thing a few months ago, this is my one stallion, he got a lot of good genes so I kept him for more bootstrapping if his sire ages out before I have another better one

What is "bootstrap"?
-
RocknS, I'm sure if you join the bootstrap chat you can have a whip-round. My other account is for bootstrapping, so I still have some horses to get rid of. If you look through #35350's horses, I can send you some over that chat or yours, if you have your own.
WingedEagel88, bootstrapping is when you take a high quality stallion and breed him to low or create quality mares and pull the qaulity of offspring up faster than if you went with a stallion equal to the mares. Thus, pulling it up by the bootstraps. These foals very rarely pass the free testing, though, so you have to be careful or this kind of thread happens. :/ -
Breeding lower gen mares to a high quality stud. This creates fall that won't pass testing if tested, but they have the potential of getting a significant boost, both showing and or breeding quality from the stud. Picking out the ones that papered the best and breeding them back create better and better horses till you can even have horses pass testing. I started by breeding all my mares blue through yellow to a 7g star, keeping golds and blues with rarer genes I wanted to keep. (Many people who start with foundation usually go through at least one or two gens of keeping mainly blues, but you strike gold still) This breeding method creates high pt foals a lot faster as well as boosted breeding ability.

Oh no! I did this last season with a portion of my new bootstraps.
