Strict mare advice
-
I bred a bunch of rank specials, perfect foundations, and top notch producers to my new Axiom stud ( also a Rank special). I had 8 pit of 22 intact. By using rank specials am I setting myself up to lots of snipping? Because they are perfect foundations and can't go higher?

I had the same issue. I couldn't figure out why my perfect foundies weren't making perfect babies. The graphs that Looking Glass made a hundred years ago kind of cleared it up for me. There is no way I could explain it right, but here is a link to my copy of her original post: http://hj2.huntandjump.com/forum/discussion/10182/general-information-showing-vs-breeding#Item_2 (especially note the stuff under the picture of the dice)

Ammit recently made strict mare advice stricter, so that is likely why fewer mares get through intact than in previous seasons. As hard as it is when a lovely filly or colt gets snipped by the testing, just remember that it would have been a mediocre breeder and that show horses make the money to support your stable.I was jllewis on the old forum.

The best way to up your odds of intact babies is o make use of the full pasture bonus. I had upward of 50% intact in my pastures with full bonus last season.

I figure if SMA gets them, then I really don't want to breed them anyway. Even if they are from Perfect Foundations. The Perfect Foundations are better for breeding, than the foals they produce. I like that I don't have to take the time to go through all of them to spay after 3 foals. Looking at AFPT. I tended to be too easy when SMA didn't get them, before Ammit made SMA stricter. I have so many horses that I am still going through older mares before the SMA get stricter. When I don't have to do that, it just makes more time for me to show them, and get my show bonus points. I noticed that now I am having the same AFPT issues, with stallions staying intact. I have to go through looking at AFPT's and gelding later. Plus, gelding all their offspring.

Yes I agree. I am glad it's strict. I just wanted to make sure they were the best to be breeding:-)

My theory is I want my gen 2s to be better than my best foundations and my gen 3s to be better than my best gen 2s.....best way to do that is start with the best foundations you can get your hands on and then cull ruthlessly!Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms

Btw, what upgrade do you have to have to get access to SMA?
-
Good question. But I think you have to have the premium upgrade
