Im in need of some wisdom before i cry..
-
Okay. I don't know if Im allowed to post this here, but I need to talk to someone about this..
Do to unforeseen circumstances, me and my family have to give up our two cats (No, actually; we are being FORCED to give them up. Im not going to explain what happened, but all ill say is that I live in an apartment complex and if I don't rehome them then my whole family will get evicted and have nowhere to stay).
Its honestly taking everything in my power not to ball my eyes out right now. Those two cats (Simba and Superman) are NY LIFE. they make my world so bright; when I come home from school, Simba would sit in the windowsill and greet me. He would literally jump on my shoulders and give my face little "kisses". (I call them kisses. He would gently nuzzle my face and neck with his little nose) I rescued him a couple months back from an abusive home, and ever since then we've grown an extremely close bond that can't be replicated.
He's helped me when no other human would. He could sense when I was sick. Hell, (excuse my French) that's the only cat that ive ever had that my mom had fallen head over heals for. My grandmother (who HATES cats) loves him! Both of my cats helped me get through my depression and anxiety.
Anyway, thank you guys for letting me get this off my chest.. -
I'm so sorry that you are going to have to rehome your cats. I'm not sure if you could find a friend or relative who would be able to take them so that you might be able to visit with them some. Even then, I understand what a hard thing this is for you. You have a right to be grieving.
Sending you a warm cyber hug.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

@SandycreekFarm thank you so much <3 I sadly don't have any friends or family that could take them for the time being, and I really don't want to just abandon them at a shelter. They're too special for that.

I am very sorry to hear about needing to rehome your cats. While I have never had to rehome, I did have to leave my dog behind with my ex when I left. Literally the only place I could afford at the time didn’t allow pets, and I had no choice. I didn’t even have time to get into a different place three months later before he had sold her to someone else (was a purebred, registered intact female mini Yorkie). So I definitely understand what you are going through, and I feel your pain. Have you looked for a no kill rescue that could take them? Especially if they are healthy, a rescue would have more resources available to get them into a new home faster without the stress of a shelter. Or see if a rescue would be willing to foster them for a few months if you plan on moving?Thanked by 1MariaChapinFarm3

There are groups that foster until you move... you pay a small fee and supply with food, etc. Someone in the extended family perhaps? I would say I would take them (I foster!!) But I unfortunately am full and unaware of your location. Please don't post for security reasons but I know of several groups on Facebook that do an amazing job at temporary homes and foster settings.ID# 24891

@FallenShadows714 that's terrible.. Its such a terrible thing to have to leave your pets behind. I know its cliché, but they really do grow on you.. They become a part of your family. That's such a scummy thing for your ex to do.. Seriously? They're just going to sell the dog? And yeah, Im looking into all of the shelters near my apartment. The only problem is that they all have waiting lists (of up to 3months), and I only have 10 days. Plus, shelters are my last resort.. I really don't want them to spend a portion of their lives in a cage. If it comes to it, though.. I will try my hardest to find a shelter that will take them.
@RubyJoFarm oh my gosh, thank you so much for the offer. You don't even know how much that means to me.
I actually didn't even think about checking online to see if there is anyone that could foster them.. Thank you so much for the tip. Im definitely going to look into that... A small fee wouldn't be bad at all, considering they are family, and we already have a couple very large bags of cat food and litter. Do you know how long fosters would usually hold animals? At least, how long would you be willing to hold an animal for? We are trying to find a new apartment, but that also takes time. A long time -
Maria, I'm so sorry. I hope you find the resources you need to make arrangements to keep your babies, or you find a good home. We gave up our cats a few years ago. I miss them fiercely.45120Thanked by 1MariaChapinFarm3
