Consistency and Colours
  • Hello again everyone. I have two questions I would like to ask.

    1. Consistency. I'm only a newbie and haven't yet gotten the money up to buy an upgrade and do PT testing, so I have no idea where my horses are. I have an inconsistent horse and am wondering what to do with it. I'm of a mind to neuter and keep for showing, but since I am a beginner I was wondering if it will even be worth it. I am a little bit confused as to how this factor influences the horses training, showing and breeding and was hoping for come clarification and examples.

    2. I was wondering about the colours on the stars of the horses somatic tattoos. Do they indicate rank? If so, what colours indicate what rank?

    Thanks in advance ^^

  • Hello a I'll try to answer this as best as I can. I know if I get anything wrong one if the more veteran players will correct me.

    1. PT only affects showing ability. This means a horse will sometimes place very high in shows and very low in others. I don't belive it affects breeding or training ability at all

    2. As far as the star color goes all rank specials (like white wedding, blackest night, conversation hearts, ect) all have their own color with a pattern.
Silver pocket watch is a grey clock face, sparkling cider is gold with little bubbles, yule log is holy berries, stars and stripes is an US flags ect.
Regular daily heard helpers are based of of rank. Rank one is clear, rank two is yellow, 3 is red, and I think 4 is blue. I think the regular hh only go up to 4 maybe 5

  • A little more clarification here:

1). Consistency does specifically affect both PT and show score. Being inconsistent will lower the PT (sometimes quite significantly, by more than half a point). It will cause variation greater than +/-2 in Show score. Variation of +/-2 is within the "consistent" range unless a horse is "perfectly consistent" (perfect foundation, rank special or Consistent herd helper, or Genetically Modified to be perfectly consistent).

As far as I'm aware it doesn't affect breeding ability, but Consistency/Inconsistency is passed on from parent to foal. If a parent is passing on inconsistency, their foals are likely to have lower PTs. One of the methods of picking and choosing which broodmares to keep is to compare Average Foal PT between mares bred under similar conditions to the same quality of sires. And inconsistent mare passing on inconsistency will likely have a lower AFPT...

While consistency again does not directly affect training to my knowledge, PT does directly relate to how many weeks a horse will train for, and therefore influence how far up the class ranks a specific horse might climb. This may affect how successful a given show pony is for you over its lifetime, but isn't really an issue for a new player. One thing I will mention here is if you have horses "Levelling Off" as soon as or a few weeks after you buy them, they have super low PT scores and aren't likely to make good show ponies. This doesn't mean you shouldn't keep them as breeders, but if they are spayed or gelded, auction those horses!

2). Aside from the Rank Specials, which are special cool horses that are available rarely in the game (we are at the tail end of the Christmas celebration that has seen daily rank specials, but these guys really don't come out that often!), the rank of regular daily herd helpers only refers to the rarity of the genes in that helper, or the rarity of the combination. It does not indicate horses are better quality necessarily. A Rank 5 is not more likely to pass testing than a rank 1, it is just a rare color and pattern combination compared to the rank 1 which is likely to be pretty simple.

  • Thank you both so much! ^^ I think I'll neuter and then keep as a show pony.
