Genes for chestnut pinto
-
What genes do I need to breed or find a chestnut pinto? Thank you
-
For chestnut, you would need to look at the e allele, and you would want both to be recessive (ee). Pinto is a pretty broad term that could include tobiano (Kit to), white (Kit w,w3,w8, or m), sabino (Kit sb1 or sb2), splash (Sp s) and overo/frame (O lw).
There is an in depth guide : http://www.huntandjump.com/geneticsguide/
It has example pictures with it as well.
